Innodata Knowledge Services Inc. is seeking a Patent Analyst (Chemical & Pharmaceutical) to turn scientific research into actionable patent insights.

You will conduct searches, analyze documents, and evaluate records across European and international filings while collaborating on AI-driven data initiatives. The role requires a degree in a chemical or pharmaceutical field and at least 3 years of patent search/analysis experience, with strong knowledge of Espacenet and WIPO PATENTSCOPE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a chemical/pharma discipline and strong patent search/analysis capability.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in chemical or pharmaceutical patent searching/analysis.
• Proficient with Espacenet and WIPO PATENTSCOPE.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patent searches for chemical compounds, formulations, drug-related innovations, and processes.
• Review patent documents, descriptions, claims and supporting information.
• Research European and international patent databases to identify records.
• Use Espacenet and WIPO PATENTSCOPE to retrieve and evaluate patent information.

We're looking for a detail-oriented Patent Analyst (Chemical and Pharmaceutical) who can research, analyze, and evaluate patent information across chemical and pharmaceutical technologies, including European and international patent filings.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Conduct patent searches involving chemical compounds, pharmaceutical formulations, drug-related innovations, and chemical processes.
• Review and analyze patent documents, technical descriptions, claims, and supporting information.
• Research European and international patent databases to identify relevant patent records.
• Use patent search platforms such as Espacenet and WIPO PATENTSCOPE to retrieve and evaluate patent information.
• Assess the relevance, accuracy, and completeness of patent documents.
• Organize research findings and support patent analytics across chemical and pharmaceutical domains.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• A degree in M.Sc. Chemistry, M.Pharm, B.Tech Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in chemical or pharmaceutical patent searching, patent analysis, or a related intellectual property function.
• Working knowledge of Espacenet and WIPO PATENTSCOPE.
• Strong understanding of chemical and pharmaceutical terminology and technical documentation.
• Excellent analytical, research, and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex scientific information.
