Job summary

Therma Luzon, Inc. in Pasig is seeking a Category Management and Strategic Sourcing Manager to develop long-term, beyond 5-year supply plans for non-fuel categories within the AboitizPower Transition Business Group.

The role emphasizes value creation through cost management, innovation, sustainability, and greenfield/brownfield initiatives. You will lead cross-functional teams, drive category strategies, negotiate high-value contracts, and ensure risk mitigation while aligning with enterprise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a 4-year engineering, business-related or Behavioral Science course.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management or related fields.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a Leadership / People Management role.
  • Engineering License highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of category management and strategic sourcing strategies and projects.
  • Reduces risk and delivers value through TCO, operational excellence, innovation, and ESG.
  • Continuously scans global trends to refine strategy and improvements.
  • Integrates category management with contract management, sourcing, logistics, and inventory.
  • Designs SCM data strategies, standards, and decision-support structures.
  • Guides category managers on establishing should-cost models and other tools.
  • Aligns supply chain strategy with enterprise risk, diversity, and ESG priorities.
  • Develops long-term supply plans to complement the Transition Business Group plan.
  • Articulates category vision to stakeholders and enables broader procurement solutions.
  • Drives demand management, cost structure transformation, and impactful projects.
  • Explores inter-category synergies and ensures sound demand, supply, forecasting.
  • Monitors metrics, tracks execution, and adjusts plans as needed.
  • Analyzes market research, price/cost trends, and benchmarks for competitive advantage.
  • Collaborates with Thermal and other units to analyze spend and budgets.
  • Identifies contracting/negotiation strategies and leads critical high-value contracts.
  • Manages supply chain risk and implements mitigation plans.
  • Coordinates CMSS and new builds with stakeholders and evaluates strategy effectiveness.

As a Category Management and Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will develop supply chain/sourcing strategies and long‑term supply planning (horizon of beyond 5 years) with focus on non‑fuel commodities/categories, that influence and shape business decisions, and deliver value to the group particularly in emerging priority areas of the business, such as value/cost management, innovation, sustainability/energy transition, and builds (greenfield and brownfield) management which encompass new plants, expansion, new technologies, etc. and contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with various teams to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose‑driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Leads the development of category management and strategic sourcing strategies and project (brownfield/greenfield) procurement that influence and shape business decisions.
  • Reduces risk and delivers value through total cost of ownership (TCO), operational excellence improvements, innovation, and/or ESG/sustainability.
  • Continuously scans the global environment to stay updated on best approaches and trends to synthesize knowledge for strategy improvements.
  • Ensures effective integration of category management and project procurement with other supply chain components, including contract management, tactical sourcing, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Designs effective SCM data strategies, standards, and structures to support business decision‑making.
  • Provides guidance to category managers on establishing TCO models, "should-cost" models, and other management tools.
  • Aligns supply chain strategy with enterprise risk, diversity, and sustainability/ESG priorities.
Business Integration and Execution
  • Leads the development of a long‑term supply plan to complement the integrated business plan of the Transition Business Group.
  • Articulates the category management and project procurement vision and strategic direction to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enables procurement solutions beyond strategic sourcing, such as demand management, cost structure transformation, and business impact projects.
  • Espouses inter‑category synergies and ensures sound planning for demand, supply, forecasting, and category action plans.
  • Develops strategy implementation metrics to track improvements, monitor execution, and modify plans to meet changing business imperatives.
  • Continuously improves competitive advantage by analyzing market research, price/cost trends, industry benchmarks, and "should-be" cost analytics.
  • Collaborates with Thermal and other Business Units to analyze spend and budgets.
  • Identifies contracting and negotiation strategies and leads negotiations for critical, high‑value contracts.
  • Manages supply chain risk and ensures continuity of supply through checked and implemented mitigation plans.
  • Coordinates implementation plans for CMSS and new builds with relevant stakeholders while evaluating overall strategy effectiveness.
Business Management and Governance
  • Leads governance of CMSS processes and maximizes the use of systems and technologies to streamline processes and build knowledge management.
  • Delivers performance measurements, creates metrics for the SCM Balanced Scorecard (BSC), and ensures alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Creates and monitors the SCM Budget against actual spend and generates reports for Opscom and Mancom.
  • Drives the closing of audit reports and approves contracts and payment requests within the limits of authority.
  • Manages suppliers to maximize value by rationalizing the vendor base and initiating improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures SCM policies and contracts are compliant with AP policies and supports various SCM teams in attaining their objectives.
Relationship Management
  • Maps and maintains relations with key stakeholders using agreed communication structures to keep them informed of initiatives.
  • Establishes personal and team credibility through quick resolution of service issues and consistent delivery on commitments.
  • Develops constructive relationships with key suppliers, ensuring adherence to safety, health, environment, and community involvement policies.
  • Formulates and implements supplier development strategies as part of approved category strategies.
Leadership and Administrative
  • Checks and approves the annual department budget and prepares the annual training budget for personnel costs.
  • Coaches, trains, and develops direct reports to improve skills and competencies.
  • Establishes performance goals and conducts performance reviews for team members.
  • Delivers administrative, human resources, and support functions expected of a team leader.
  • Conforms to company policies regarding Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, and Information Security (ISO 9001, 14001, 27001, and OHSAS 18001).
  • Protects information assets and reports any security risks or incidents to the relevant committees.
To Succeed in this Role, we need someone who:
  • Has experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing and Supply/Service Contract Management.
  • Has a strong sense of Customer/Stakeholder Management.
What You Will Need:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any 4-year engineering, business-related or Behavioral Science course.
  • At least 7 years’ of experience in Supply Chain Management or related fields.
  • With at least 4 years’ experience in a Leadership / People Management role.

Engineering License highly preferred.

Technical / Functional Skills:

Strong skills in Contract Management and Negotiations.
