Purple Cow is seeking a skilled C++ software engineer to develop high-performance code for automated testing in hardware-integrated environments. You will work on multithreaded, Linux-based systems and grow into device-driver and embedded areas under guidance.
You should be proficient in C++17 or newer, able to think in terms of algorithms and data structures, and communicate clearly in English. The role operates in a self-directed Agile team with international collaboration.
You will write high-performance C++ that powers automated testing for complex, hardware-integrated systems. This is low-level, performance-sensitive work where code quality and reliability matter. You do not need to know the domain on day one. A senior engineer will mentor you into it, so we care more about how well you code and how fast you learn than about what you have already worked on.
Write and maintain multithreaded, performance-minded C++, applying solid algorithmic thinking where speed matters.
Build and test new functionality on Linux workstations using a modern toolchain.
Prototype ideas, prove out the ones that work, and carry them forward.
Grow into the device-driver and embedded side of the work with a senior engineer guiding your ramp-up.
Work in a self-directed agile team that adapts its process to what the team needs.
Strong C++ (C++17 or newer).
Solid grasp of software design, object-oriented programming, algorithms, and data structures.
The habit of writing efficient, well-structured, maintainable code.
An analytical, problem-solving mindset.
Good written and spoken English.
A collaborative, self-directed way of working, comfortable in an international team.
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent hands-on experience counts just as much.
Multithreading and performance optimization experience.
Linux development.
Git and tools like Jira.
Scripting in Python, Ruby, or similar.
Exposure to embedded systems or low-level hardware interfaces.
Agile experience such as Scrum.
