Job summary

Pleased Inc in the Philippines (Taguig) is seeking a Backend Java Developer to build the SaaS backend using Java 21 and modern microservices. You’ll work on systems serving thousands of end users daily, with a frontend-independent, production-focused mindset.

You’ll collaborate with Product Owners and the team to design features, participate in code reviews, and ensure code quality. You’ll mentor juniors and may have On-Call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years in a relevant backend role.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data and iBATIS.
• Experience designing highly scalable backends and transactional systems.
• Advanced proficiency in OO design and analysis.
• Excellent English communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly-scalable backends for thousands of users.
• Work with Product Owners and other dev team members to determine new features and user stories.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure alignment with architecture and standards.
• Respond to production support calls for quick diagnosis and repair.
• Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming and retrospectives.
• Mentor less experienced team members.
• Potential On-Call responsibilities depending on team and tenure.
