V2X, located in the Philippines in support of LOGCAP, seeks an Automotive Mechanic to perform field-level overhaul work on vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.

You will diagnose faults, repair components, and ensure alignment with military performance specs, including routine maintenance and testing of systems using diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; apprenticeship preferred.
  • Two years’ automotive maintenance experience; training in small engine repair preferred.
  • Must have a country of origin driver license and be able to obtain government/military licenses.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and diagnose faults with automotive tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full range of repair and modification work on vehicles and equipment.
  • Examine vehicles to determine damage or malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and identify faults using diagnostic devices.
  • Test drive vehicles and test components; adjust as needed.
  • Follow procedures, checklists, and manuals; perform routine maintenance.
  • Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear with precision tools.

Overview

**This position will be physically located in the Philippines in support of LOGCAP**

Under the supervision of the Automotive Mechanic Lead, performs the full range of field-level overhaul work on one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline, or multi-fuel.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Performs the full range of repair and modification work on heavy/light equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.
  • Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
  • Accurately troubleshoots, isolates, and identify faults of equipment systems and subsystems.
  • Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
  • Repairs, relines, replaces, and adjusts.
  • Follows checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
  • Follows repair procedures, using charts, and technical manuals.
  • Tests and adjusts repaired systems to meet military performance specifications.
  • Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
  • Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Apprenticeship in Light/Heavy Automobile Repair, Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred.
    • Must have country of origin driver license.
    • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Philippines Heavy Driver’s License as required.
  • Experience:
    • At minimum Two (2) years’ experience as an automotive maintenance mechanic.
    • Training in small engine maintenance and repair preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
    • Familiar with the usage of computer based technical manuals preferred.
    • The ability to troubleshoot, determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
    • English proficiency Reading & Speaking Level 2, Writing Level 1.
    • Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork.
    • Must exercise discretion and good sound judgment.
    • Capable of performing work while wearing personnel protective equipment.
  • Working Environment:
    • Work is generally conducted in a shop environment; however, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, and Fire Regulations and published company work rules.
