Job summary

Manila Multipurpose Terminal is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to maintain and repair mobile equipment such as tractors, trailers, excavators and forklifts on-site in Manila. You will ensure maximum equipment availability, diagnose faults, and perform routine maintenance while following safety guidelines.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of related experience, a Heavy Equipment NC II certification, and a trade school diploma.

Qualifications

• Trade school diploma in Heavy Equipment Repair and Maintenance or Automotive Repair and Maintenance.
• At least 4 years of related experience in the same capacity.
• National Certification required: Heavy Equipment Servicing (Mechanical) NC II.
• Must have technical expertise with mechanical aptitude and basic English/Filipino.
• Computer literacy is a plus and readiness to start ASAP.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Mobile Equipment (Tractors, Trailers, Excavators, Forklifts, Lifting Gears, light trucks).
• Ensure high daily availability by timely repairs and maintenance.
• Inspect and repair diesel power units; perform routine oil changes, tire rotations, brake servicing.
• Inspect and repair engine, transmission, steering, suspension and braking systems.
• Diagnose defects using diagrams, schematics and manuals; test repaired units.
• Record repair findings and maintenance recommendations to supervisors.

A. GENERAL FUNCTION

Ensure that Equipment Reliability is maintained at its highest level to support continuous and efficient terminal operations and ensures that all Mobile Equipment are properly repaired based on the daily tasks and duties.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Shall be primarily responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Mobile Equipment such as Tractors, Trailers, Excavators, Forklifts of various capacity, Lifting Gears, and light trucks/utility vehicles.
• Shall help ensure that equipment’s daily availability is at its highest possible quantity by timely completion of equipment repair and maintenance as per tasks assigned.
• Inspects, repairs and adjusts diesel power units.
• Performs routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake servicing, and fluid checks.
• Inspects, adjusts and repairs engine, transmission, steering, suspension (including tire replacement), braking, and other mechanical system faults.
• Inspects, repairs and adjusts hydraulic and cable/chain-operated attachments on the Mobile Equipment.
• He shall have the skills and ability to diagnose defects in the equipment.
• Read and interpret diagrams, schematics and technical manuals.
• Test repaired units to verify that repairs have been completed successfully.
• Keep tools, equipment, and the work area clean and organized.
• Shall ensure that he follows the instructions given to him by his Supervisor or Superintendent and communicate repair findings and maintenance recommendations.
• Shall have the ability on completing forms to record or report information in standard format as specified by the forms.
• He shall have the skills in the use of equipment/automotive servicing equipment such as:

• Hand and Power Tools employed in all phases of maintenance and repair
• Hydraulic Jack
• Drilling Machines
• Lifting Machines
• Welding Machines (some welding knowledge for minor repair works only)
• Tire Changing Machines
• Specialized Tools as required by the Original Equipment manufacturer.

• Shall attend the Daily Toolbox talk on his assigned Shift and follow all manufacturer specification, company procedures and safety instructions on a regular basis.
• Participate in emergency drills, general assemblies, and other activities required by the company.
• Performs other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

C. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Educational Attainment: Preferably a Trade School Graduate of Heavy Equipment Repair and Maintenance or Automotive Repair and Maintenance.
• Work Experience: Must have at least 4 years of related experience under the same capacity.
• Training/ Certification: Having a National Certification is a requirement [Heavy Equipment Servicing (Mechanical) NC II].
• Skills: Must have technical expertise, with people skills, mechanical aptitude, can understand basic command in English and Filipino, computer literacy is a plus.
• Can start ASAP.
