Job summary

ECLARO in the Philippines is seeking an Automation Test Engineer to strengthen our quality engineering capabilities within agile teams. You will design and implement automation frameworks from scratch, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and validate APIs across REST, GraphQL, and gRPC while coaching the squad on quality practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on test automation experience.
• Ability to design and build automation frameworks from scratch.
• Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Selenium or Playwright.
• Experience validating APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and messaging systems (Kafka).
• Strong understanding of microservices vs monolithic architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance automation frameworks from the ground up.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests for functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Integrate automated tests into deployment pipelines (CI/CD) to achieve continuous quality validation.
• Architect and implement automation solutions using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright).
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and architects to ensure test coverage across distributed systems.
• Validate backend APIs across REST, GraphQL, and gRPC, including interaction with Kafka.

About the Role

We are looking for highly skilled Automation Test Engineers who will play a key role in strengthening our quality engineering capabilities. The ideal candidates are experienced in building automation frameworks from scratch, integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, and driving quality-first engineering practices within agile teams. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional squads to ensure product reliability, scalability, and high performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance automation frameworks from the ground up.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites for functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Integrate automated tests into deployment pipelines (CI/CD) to achieve continuous quality validation.
• Architect and implement automation solutions using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright).
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and architects to ensure test coverage across distributed systems and microservice architectures.
• Validate backend APIs across REST, GraphQL, and gRPC, including interaction with message brokers such as Kafka.
• Analyze and understand system designs, data flow, microservices, and monolithic components to develop effective test automation strategies.
• Mentor and coach team members on quality engineering best practices, helping uplift the overall quality posture of the squad.
• Contribute to shift-left testing approaches by enabling early defect detection and promoting testability within the development cycle.
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies and deliver testing insights that improve team velocity and software quality.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in test automation and quality engineering.
• Strong ability to design and build automation frameworks from scratch.
• Proven experience in integrating automation into modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in at least one major programming language:
  • Java, GoLang, or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium or Playwright.
• Strong understanding of microservices vs. monolithic architectures and application data flows.
• Experience validating APIs and messaging systems (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, Kafka).
• Demonstrated ability to uplift team quality through coaching, mentorship, and collaboration.
• Strong background working within agile software delivery environments and applying shift-left principles.
