Job summary

The Allentown School District is hiring a Paraprofessional (Autistic Support) to assist certificated staff in delivering instructional, behavioral, and functional programs to students with disabilities. The role includes one-on-one or small-group support, classroom management, and implementing behavior plans.

The successful candidate will collect progress data, maintain student records, and assist with transitions and personal care as needed, while adhering to FERPA and district policies.

Qualifications

• Must meet highly qualified paraprofessional standards per federal laws and PA Code 22.
• Must meet basic reading, writing, and math competencies.
• Valid Act 34, 114, and Act 151 clearances.
• Valid tuberculosis test and physical examination with ADA accommodations as appropriate.
• Must complete 20 hours of approved staff development annually.

Responsibilities

• Assist principal and professionals in maintaining a safe, orderly school environment.
• Support instructional and tutoring activities per the IEP or plan.
• Provide instructional support under teacher direction (e.g., tests, reinforcement of instruction).
• Collect observational and academic data for progress monitoring.
• Maintain student files/records for documentation and reliability.
• Follow and implement positive behavior support plans under teacher direction.
• Assist with student personal needs (feeding, toileting, etc.) as needed.
• Support safe transitions between locations and environments within the school.
• Participate in specialized training related to eligible students with IEPs.
• Maintain confidentiality per FERPA regulations/Chapter 14.
• Respond to emergencies per standing orders and policies.
• Reassign paraprofessionals as needed to support special education.
