Major Duties :
  1. Function in various roles on audit engagements, including leading audits, staffing audits, and providing consulting or oversight functions based on team needs.
  2. Stay current on regulatory rules and industry changes.
  3. Manage and perform special projects as assigned.
  4. Participate in meetings with business units to discuss audit results.
  5. Communicate with partners at all levels, developing and presenting operational and control recommendations for the business unit.
  6. Utilize understanding of various corporate units to ensure operations, services, and systems have proper audit controls (design of the control environment).
  7. Evaluate management, business processes, controls, and practices during audits and consulting engagements.
  8. Apply analytical skills to review information and identify potential control weaknesses.
  9. Develop a thorough understanding of the Northern Trust Audit Methodology and adhere to all Department Standards.
  10. Complete and compile high-quality summaries of findings and recommendations professionally and concisely.
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of auditing in the financial services industry and basic accounting principles.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA) and/or an MBA are preferred, demonstrating technical abilities in areas like accounting or regulatory compliance.
  • Analytical and organizational skills necessary for conducting audits.
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
Experience:

A college or university degree and experience in auditing or systems within a financial institution or similar public accounting experience in the financial services industry are preferred.
