Job summary

HGS Offshore Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced AU Senior Accountant to join our accounting team and take ownership of a portfolio of entities. You will deliver accurate monthly financial reporting and act as a trusted financial partner to stakeholders.

You will present financial results to franchisees, explain performance and provide practical insights to help them manage their businesses, while coaching junior staff and supporting month-end processes.

Qualifications

• CPA qualification/licence required.
• Strong accounting background with AU or US accounting.
• Experience presenting financial results to clients or stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of entities and take ownership of their accounting and financial reporting requirements.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Present monthly financial results to franchisees, explaining performance, variances, trends and areas needing attention.
• Provide meaningful financial commentary and practical insights to support business decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with franchisees and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and lodge GST and payroll tax returns where required.
• Investigate reconciliations, variances and unusual transactions and resolve issues.
• Respond to financial queries and provide accounting guidance.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
• Contribute to month-end activities and team initiatives.
• Coach and review junior staff where applicable.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AU Senior Accountant to join our accounting team and take ownership of a portfolio of entities.

This role is responsible for the preparation and delivery of accurate monthly financial reporting, while also acting as a trusted financial partner to stakeholders. A key part of the role is presenting financial results to franchisees, explaining financial performance and providing practical insights to help them understand and manage their businesses.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, commercially minded and confident communicating financial information to clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of entities and take ownership of their accounting and financial reporting requirements.

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and management reports.

• Present monthly financial results to franchisees, clearly explaining performance, key variances, trends and areas requiring attention.

• Provide meaningful financial commentary and practical insights to support business decision-making.

• Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with franchisees and other stakeholders.

• Prepare and lodge applicable GST, payroll tax and other statutory returns, where required.

• Investigate reconciliations, variances and unusual transactions and ensure issues are appropriately resolved.

• Respond to financial and accounting queries and provide guidance on relevant accounting and financial matters.

• Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems and reporting efficiency.

• Contribute to month-end activities and broader team initiatives.

• Support, coach and review the work of junior accounting team members, where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

• CPA qualification/licence required.

• Strong professional accounting background with experience in Australian or US accounting.

• Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles and financial reporting.

• Experience presenting financial results and financial insights to clients or business stakeholders.
