About the Role
We're looking for an experienced AU Accounting Specialist (AP/AR & Payroll) to join our growing finance team supporting Australian businesses.
This is a hands-on accounting role responsible for managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll support, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You'll play a key role in ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately, invoices and payments are managed efficiently, and month-end activities are completed on time.
Beyond day-to-day accounting, you'll have the opportunity to improve finance processes, support reporting, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the finance function operates efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable & Client Invoicing
- Raise and process client invoices using Xero
- Review and reconcile invoices prior to dispatch
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and partners to resolve invoicing queries
- Monitor aged receivables and support collections activities
- Prepare accounts receivable reports and identify trends or discrepancies
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Process supplier and partner invoices accurately and on time
- Perform weekly Accounts Payable reconciliations
- Manage recurring subscriptions, direct debits, and business expenses
- Reconcile company credit card transactions
- Support accruals, prepayments, and expense allocations
Payroll & Financial Reconciliations
- Reconcile payroll journals and invoice journals within Xero
- Ensure payroll transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger
- Complete daily bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies
Reporting & Finance Support
- Prepare finance reports and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end reporting and financial analysis
- Support internal audits and compliance activities
- Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting and payroll processes
- Recommend efficiencies across finance operations and reporting
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance team
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in an accounting, finance, or accounts role supporting Australian businesses
- Strong Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience
- Payroll support or payroll reconciliation experience
- Advanced proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables and advanced formulas)
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Exposure to month-end accounting processes is highly preferred
Highly Desirable
- Previous experience supporting Australian businesses
- Experience using payroll platforms
- Exposure to general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting
- Experience within recruitment, professional services, or multi-entity businesses
- Experience supporting internal audits and finance process improvements
