Job description
Associate General Counsel (Lawyer) - Manufacturing / FMCG

We are seeking a highly motivated and solutions-oriented Associate General Counsel to join our Legal Department. This leadership role will be responsible for managing key legal functions across labor law, compliance, contracts, litigation, and union advisory matters in support of around 15 - 18 manufacturing plants nationwide. The ideal candidate is at least 2019-2020 bar passer or earlier with solid people management experience, strong business acumen, and a hands-on approach to legal problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Labor Law & Employment: Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations. Provide legal guidance on employment matters, terminations, disciplinary actions, and internal policies.
  • Union & Labor Relations: Act as legal adviser in dealings with labor unions. Partner with HR and operations to ensure constructive union relationships and sound labor practices.
  • Contract Management: Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements related to operations, supply chain, procurement, and distribution.
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Manage and oversee litigation strategy, working with external counsel when necessary. Represent the company in administrative hearings and legal proceedings.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all applicable local and national laws, including food safety regulations, corporate governance, and regulatory filings.
  • Leadership & People Management: Lead and mentor a team of three in-house lawyers and one paralegal. Build capability and foster a culture of accountability and legal excellence.
  • Strategic Legal Partner: Collaborate with business leaders and cross-functional teams to assess risk, develop practical legal solutions, and support strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Education & License: Bachelor of Laws / Juris Doctor from a reputable institution. Must be a Philippine Bar passer from 2019 or earlier.

Experience:

  • Minimum of at least 5 years of legal practice, with strong exposure to litigation, labor law, union advisory, compliance, and contract negotiation.
  • Prior experience in the FMCG or manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Proven litigation experience and ability to manage external counsel.
  • Solid leadership track record with people management responsibilities.
  • With knowledge of food and/or beverage laws, competition law, sales promotion permit requirements, contract drafting and negotiations, litigation and risk management, and labor laws, among others.
  • Skills & Attributes:

    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
