Job description

We are seeking a leader for the Financial Insights & Value Management team. The team is responsible for providing forward-looking insights into the financial performance, profitability and long-term value creation of Great Eastern Group and its subsidiaries.

Working at the intersection of actuarial, finance and business, you will play a key role in measuring, analysing and managing value through EV, NBEV and IFRS 17 frameworks. Beyond reporting, you will partner closely with stakeholders across the Group to drive business planning, forecasting, performance management and strategic decision-making, ensuring value created today translates into sustainable earnings and shareholder value tomorrow.

As a highly visible and collaborative role, you will work with business units, functions and regional entities across the Group to solve complex challenges, identify emerging risks and unlock opportunities for value creation. This is a demanding yet highly rewarding opportunity for individuals who enjoy combining technical rigour with commercial thinking and want to make a meaningful impact on the future success of the Great Eastern Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce and analyse Embedded Value (EV), New Business Embedded Value (NBEV) and IFRS 17 new business value metrics, providing insights into the value generated by new business and its contribution to the Group's financial objectives.
  • Monitor and assess the emergence of value and profitability from new business, identifying deviations from expected experience, emerging risks and opportunities, and ensuring anticipated value is ultimately realised in financial performance.
  • Perform actual-versus-expected analyses to identify drivers of value creation and erosion, investigate emerging experience trends and provide actionable insights to support management decision-making.
  • Drive the Group's annual business planning process and regular forecasting of key financial metrics, leveraging value-based insights to improve performance predictability and support long-term financial sustainability.
  • Partner with actuarial, finance, distribution and business stakeholders to translate financial and value-based metrics into actions that improve profitability, expense efficiency and sustainable growth.
  • Support strategic, business transformation and corporate-wide initiatives across the Group.
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments, regulatory requirements, emerging risks and market trends, assessing their implications on business performance and value creation.
  • Highlight potential concerns and risks proactively, and recommend appropriate actions and risk management practices.
  • Hold a degree in Actuarial Science or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Are qualified actuaries, or have made significant progress towards an internationally recognised actuarial qualification.
  • Possess 7 to 10 years of actuarial experience within a life insurer, reinsurer or actuarial consulting environment.
  • Have experience in financial planning, performance management, management reporting or business analytics, with exposure to data visualisation and business intelligence tools would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of life insurance valuation methodologies, Embedded Value (EV), IFRS 17 and Singapore RBC frameworks.
  • Are proficient in actuarial and analytical tools, including Prophet, Excel/VBA, SQL and other relevant modelling or reporting platforms.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate complex technical analyses into clear business insights and recommendations.
  • Are effective communicators who can engage and influence stakeholders across actuarial, finance, distribution and senior management functions.
  • Are proactive, intellectually curious and comfortable challenging existing assumptions to drive continuous improvement and better business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to foster collaboration and positive working relationships across teams.
  • Possess a high level of integrity, accountability and professional judgement, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment, embracing change and adapting quickly to evolving business, regulatory and market requirements.
