Job description

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join the Financial Analytics team within Group Finance. The team plays a central role in supporting senior management decision-making by providing actionable financial insights and a forward-looking view of business performance across the Great Eastern Group.

The team goes beyond reporting the "what" to understand the "why" behind financial performance. By analysing business trends, financial results, market developments and emerging risks, the team helps management identify opportunities, anticipate challenges and make informed strategic decisions.

This is a highly visible role that works closely with business finance, actuarial, distribution and senior management teams across the region. The successful candidate will bring together financial analysis, business insight and effective communication to influence decision‑making, challenge assumptions and support the Group's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse the financial performance and profitability of Great Eastern Group and its subsidiaries, identifying key business drivers, emerging trends, risks and opportunities to support management decision-making.
  • Drive financial planning, forecasting and performance management activities across the Group, providing forward‑looking insights to improve predictability of business outcomes and financial performance.
  • Consolidate and interpret financial, operational and market information from multiple business units and jurisdictions, transforming complex information into clear, actionable insights for senior management.
  • Develop executive‑ready materials and management briefings, distilling complex financial and business developments into concise and impactful narratives.
  • Partner closely with business finance, actuarial and functional stakeholders to challenge assumptions, assess business performance and recommend actions to improve outcomes.
  • Monitor industry, market and competitor developments, assessing their potential implications on business performance, strategy and financial outlook.
  • Support management engagements with external stakeholders, where required, through research, analysis and preparation of relevant briefing materials.
  • Drive and support Group Finance initiatives, business transformation programmes and process improvement efforts, leveraging technology and data analytics to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure appropriate handling of confidential and price‑sensitive information, while supporting high standards of governance, controls and communication practices.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and issues, recommend mitigating actions and share best practices to support sound business and financial management.
  • Hold a degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business, Economics or another relevant discipline.
  • Possess 7-10 years of experience in financial planning & analysis, business finance, management reporting, performance management, audit, transaction advisory or related finance functions, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect financial outcomes with underlying business drivers and strategic decisions.
  • Have a strong interest in understanding market developments, industry trends, competitor actions and their impact on business performance.
  • Are intellectually curious and enjoy digging beneath the numbers to understand root causes, risks and opportunities.
  • Have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous issues and develop practical recommendations.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, with the ability to translate complex financial information into meaningful messages tailored to different audiences.
  • Demonstrate strong written communication skills and attention to detail, with experience preparing materials for senior stakeholders.
  • Are highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy under tight timelines.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across functions and levels, demonstrating maturity, professionalism and sound judgement.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality, data governance and responsible handling of sensitive information.
  • Are resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced and evolving environment.
