Job summary

Haskell Philippines is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our growing team. This role focuses on leading project teams, coordinating site activities, and ensuring successful delivery of large and complex projects.

The successful candidate will spend time on construction sites, collaborate with superintendents, and manage communications, scheduling, and budgets under the guidance of the project management team.

  • Processing subcontractor submittals, with some financial acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Field Management, Safety, and Quality: Work with superintendent on subcontractor coordination, self-perform scopes, safety and quality management, and job site reporting and controls.
  • Document Control and Project Communications: Reviews and transmits submittals; maintains submittal control log; prepares and manages RFIs and meeting minutes.
  • Scheduling: Update progress schedules and assist planning construction operations.
  • Financial Management: Assist with budgets, costs, invoicing, change orders and cost reporting.
  • Procurement and Commitments: Identify subcontractors, issue bid packages, review bids, and assist in subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Estimating: Prepare detailed estimates and cost codes for cost control reporting.
  • Scope and Change Management: Identify and document changes in scope.
  • Design Coordination: Participate in design reviews and manage permits coordination.
  • Client Relations: Interact with client as directed by PM.
  • Project Lifecycle: Assist in startup/close-out requirements including manuals and inspections.
  • Software Knowledge: Procore, Building Connected, scheduling software, drones, and AR tools.
  • Travel as required.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • May supervise others.

Job description

Haskell Philippines is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our growing team. We are seeking professionals with significant experience in leading and directing project teams, with a proven record of successful projects and management of large and complex projects.

Location: SANTIAGO / LAOAG / ILOILO, PHILIPPINES

There is no fixed project location at this time; therefore, candidates should be flexible and willing to relocate, or travel based on business and project needs.

Scope of Position

Manages construction project’s assigned scope(s) of work and duties within project(s) as directed by supervisor. Has reached a novice level, with some skill, on many project management competencies working towards full proficiency.

APMs are expected to spend most of their time on construction sites to effectively learn and implement construction management methodologies, gain firsthand experience in construction execution, and provide optimal support to projects and project teams, ensuring successful project delivery.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Field Management, Safety, and Quality: Works with superintendent on subcontractor coordination, self-perform scopes, safety and quality management, and job site reporting and controls. Understands Haskell safety policies and communicates to subcontractors. Implements requirements of the Quality Implementation Plan (QIP). Regularly conduct site walks, observing and documenting construction activities and details, especially related to Safety, Plans / Specifications, Submittals, and RFIs. Provide detailed reports on observations to the PM and Superintendent. May be responsible for verification of proper materials and work in place.

  2. Document Control and Project Communications: Reviews and transmits submittals; maintains submittal control log; prepares and manages requests for information and maintains RFI log. Manages drawing updates and preparation of meeting minutes. Manages as-builts and redline drawings in field.

  3. Scheduling: Works with project team to update progress schedules which may include short term interval schedules. Assists in planning construction operations and sequences.

  4. Financial Management: Assists with the management of project budgets, costs, invoicing, change orders and cost reporting. Applies knowledge of Haskell standard project numbering, cost codes and cost types to develop detailed budgets from project estimates.

  5. Procurement and Commitments: Identifies and qualifies subcontractors and vendors for assigned scopes of work. Prepares and transmits bid packages and invitations to bid. Receives and analyzes received bids. In conjunction with project manager, may negotiate, draft and award subcontracts and purchase orders.

  6. Estimating: Prepares detailed estimates and cost codes for initial cost control reporting and updates labor cost reports and summary cost reports.

  7. Scope and Change Management: Identifies and documents changes in scope during construction. Understanding of prime contract and subcontract terms and conditions.

  8. Design Coordination: Participates in design review meetings and reviews and monitors design with particular attention to scope, cost changes and constructability. May be responsible for applying for, tracking and expediting project permits. Coordinates with AE for design solutions and fixes for field identified clashes.

  9. Client Relations: As directed by project manager, may interact with client including correspondence, periodic reports, change order requests, submittal of pay requisitions, and response to client inquiries and directives.

  10. Project Lifecycle: Assists in preparation of project start-up and close-out requirements including unit cost history, operations and maintenance manuals, punch list management and agency inspections.

  11. Software Knowledge: Acquire certification and proficiency in utilizing advanced technologies, including but not limited to Procore, Building Connected, scheduling software, drones, cameras, measuring equipment, weather monitoring tools, augmented reality apps, and other relevant devices and technologies for project management, verification and documentation purposes.

  12. Travel as required.

  13. Other duties which may be assigned as needed.

  14. May supervise others.

Education & Years of Experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience supporting / leading construction project.
