Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 3+ years of total relevant work experience in Power BI Administration.
• In-depth knowledge of Power BI tools, including workspace management, report development, and dashboard optimization.
• Proficiency in code migration across environments via automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
• Strong analytical skills for investigating and resolving platform issues.
• Excellent communication skills, tailored to audience level.
• Ability to participate in off-hour work, including on-call rotations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead others.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates across support teams to resolve disruptions to Power BI services, performs root cause analysis, and implements preventative measures.
• Approves production readiness of Power BI solutions and application deployments.
• Reviews performance trends across the technology portfolio and initiates actions to address risks.
• Demonstrates deep understanding of Power BI components, including workspace management, reports, dashboards, and gateways.
• Administers code management and deployment processes using automation tools.

JOB TITLE: Application Support Engineer

SHIFT SCHEDULE: US hours, 8AM to 6PM ET

WORK SETUP: Hybrid

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a senior-level position focused on Microsoft Power BI Administration within the Business Intelligence domain. This position requires specialized knowledge and expertise in Power BI platforms and deep experience in managing business intelligence solutions. The role involves leading cross-functional programs of notable complexity and risk, using sophisticated analytical thought to identify innovative solutions. The individual is accountable for their work and others, setting standards around which others will operate.

It is expected that this position works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. The individual will act as an advisor to management and key external stakeholders on broad-ranging projects.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinates across support teams to swiftly resolve disruptions to Power BI services, performs root cause analysis, and implements preventative measures.
• Approves production readiness of Power BI solutions and application deployments.
• Reviews performance trends across the broader technology portfolio and initiates actions to address areas at risk for potential impacts.
• Demonstrates deep understanding of Power BI platform components, including workspace management, report development, and dashboard optimization, parameters, Power BI gateway configuration, license management
• Administers processes related to code management and deployment, leveraging automation tools such as Python, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Provides feedback and mentoring to team members, ensuring adherence to best practices and policies.
• May lead initiatives of varying degrees of complexity, including platform upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning projects.
• Participates in an on-call rotation to ensure timely resolution of critical issues.
• Stays abreast of industry trends and technologies, proactively recommending improvements to the platform.
• Evaluates capacity utilization and initiates projects to address areas of excess and shortages.
• Engages with various teams to implement performance tuning recommendations and optimize platform operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 3+ years of total relevant work experience in Power BI Administration.
• In-depth knowledge of Power BI tools, including workspace management, report development, and dashboard optimization.
• Proficiency in code migration across environments (Development to Test, Staging to Prod etc.) via automation for automation and deployment. (python ansible etc.)
• Strong analytical skills for investigating and resolving platform issues, including root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) that can be tailored depending on the audience (from technical teams to senior management).
• Ability to participate in off-hour work, including scheduled on-call rotations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as lead others, including implementing new technology or leading critical situation calls to resolve incidents effectively.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience with other business intelligence tools such as Qlik, MicroStrategy, or Business Objects.
