APPLICATION SUPPORT ENGINEERJob Summary
- Provide support to customer sites on a rostered basis, either remotely or at the customer's premises.
- Provide on-call standby support outside of normal rostered hours, including public holidays.
- Effectively support customer operations, including the startup, monitoring, and control of supported software and equipment.
- Communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders to keep them fully informed about the outcome and progress of relevant issues.
- Investigate and resolve support incidents to allow customer systems to resume normal operations.
- Continually assess the performance of supported software and equipment to maintain operational parameters and standards and assist in making corrections or improvements.
- Support and maintain both hardware and software systems, including software updates and hardware upgrades.
- Assist with training other team members and apprentices within the area of expertise.
- Update and contribute to the online knowledge base.
- Investigate and resolve problem tickets.
- Identify, propose, and organize improvements to functionality and software fixes.
- Deliver small change requests involving configuration or minor code changes.
- Conduct release testing of application changes and patches and coordinate UAT.
- Deploy patches to customer environments.
Candidate ProfileTechnical Skills and Experience
The candidate should have knowledge and experience in the following:
- High analytical and customer management skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Strong SQL skills, particularly with Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases.
- Strong Java skills, with demonstrated proficiency in Java programming and experience diagnosing and resolving minor to medium technical issues.
- Strong Unix/Linux knowledge and network concepts.
- Experience with GIT, CVS, SVN, and/or Bdeploy.
- Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies; ISTQB certification is preferred.
- Ability to generate quality technical documentation as required.
- Knowledge of warehouse management processes and automation is highly beneficial.
- Effective communication skills, both internal and external, written and verbal.
Educational Qualifications
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
