Job description

Job Purpose:

The Application Specialist is part of a team responsible for the 24x7 operation and support of the organization’s application portfolio. This role requires strong technical problem-solving skills and a broad range of technical competencies to effectively support the application environment. It involves close collaboration with support and development teams to ensure the successful delivery of the commercial software suite.

The role also involves working closely with colleagues based in the UK and Europe, following European hours to support internal teams, customers, and products.

Key Accountabilities/BAU Objectives:

• Creates scripts, applets, and web tools to support monitoring, response, and availability recovery efforts.

• Receives, reviews, triages, escalates, and, where possible, resolves a daily flow of incoming application support tickets.

• Executes scheduled and unscheduled commercial software deployments according to requirements.

• Creates technical documentation for hosted applications.

• Performs day-to-day monitoring and support for the organization's commercial applications

Top 5 Professional Skills/Qualifications/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree holder

• Basic understanding/skills in database technologies (eg. MSSQL, Oracle), including SQL scripting.

• 3-5 years’ experience in maintaining and configuring Windows operating systems, along with IIS and Windows Firewalls, with knowledge of working in a SaaS environment.

• Ability to debug and diagnose application logs and error messages for troubleshooting and to fix application, database and Windows Server issues.

• Experience in executing small projects to make improvements and provide support for larger projects as required.

• Experience in managing VMware with an understanding of storage, snapshots, compute and networks.

• Experience in writing and developing PowerShell scripts.

Nice To Have:

• Experience of managing Linux operating systems and shell scripting

• Understanding of UK and EU GDPR legislation or willingness to learn accordingly
