• Handle fabrics considering stretch, drape, and texture for optimal alterations.
• Assist clients with customization via embellishments, trims, or personal touches.
• Consult with clients, recommend alterations, and set timelines and costs.
• Inspect finished alterations for accuracy and quality; adjust as needed.
• Maintain inventory of sewing supplies and replenish stock as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service addressing inquiries and requests.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Garment Alterations: Perform a variety of alterations on clothing items, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, adjusting sleeves, shoulders, and waistlines, and repairing or replacing zippers, buttons, and other fasteners.
• Fit Assessment: Take precise measurements of clients' bodies and assess the fit of garments to identify areas that require alteration or adjustment for improved comfort and appearance.
• Sewing and Stitching: Utilize sewing machines, sergers, and hand‑sewing techniques to make alterations and modifications to garments, ensuring neat and durable stitching that maintains the integrity of the original design.
• Fabric Handling: Handle different types of fabrics and materials with care, taking into account their specific characteristics, such as stretch, drape, and texture, to achieve optimal results in alterations and repairs.
• Customization: Assist clients in customizing their clothing by adding embellishments, trims, or personal touches according to their preferences, enhancing the uniqueness and individuality of their garments.
• Consultation and Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their alteration needs, provide recommendations on suitable alterations or modifications, and ensure clear expectations regarding timelines and costs.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect finished alterations for accuracy, fit, and quality, making any necessary adjustments or refinements to achieve the desired outcome and meet client satisfaction.
• Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of sewing supplies, including threads, needles, buttons, and other notions, ensuring adequate stock levels to support alteration services and completing timely replenishments as needed.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries, concerns, and special requests courteously and professionally, fostering positive relationships and repeat business.
