Job Description
An Aircon (RAC/SAC/HVAC) Operations Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of air conditioning technicians, ensuring high-quality installation, maintenance, and repair services while maintaining safety standards and high customer satisfaction. They act as a bridge between management and technical staff, optimizing team performance and managing resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of aircon technicians and support staff, conducting performance evaluations, providing coaching, and fostering a productive work environment.
- Operations Scheduling & Coordination: Plan and schedule daily servicing, maintenance, and installation activities to meet customer demand and deadlines.
- Technical Supervision: Provide technical support for diagnosing, repairing, and installing various HVAC systems (e.g., DX, VRV, chilled water systems).
- Quality Control & Compliance: Perform site inspections to ensure work complies with safety standards, building codes, and company quality procedures.
- Inventory & Logistics Management: Monitor inventory levels of parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring necessary materials are available for timely work completion.
- Customer Service: Address service complaints and manage customer relations to ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Reporting & Administration: Prepare daily/weekly reports on job progress, team performance (KPIs), and maintain accurate service records and maintenance logs.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience (usually 3–5 years) as an HVAC/Aircon service technician, with 1–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of air conditioning systems, electrical schematics, and refrigeration cycles.
- Certifications: Relevant HVAC certifications or licenses (e.g., EPA Section 608, Red Seal, or local equivalents).
- Education: High school diploma; a degree or diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is often preferred.
- Leadership: Ability to motivate a technical team and manage performance.
- Troubleshooting: Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex problems.
- Communication: Effective interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and technicians.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and resources simultaneously.
Working Conditions
- Often requires a mix of office work (planning) and on-site field visits.
- May require flexible hours, including weekends or night shifts to handle emergency repairs.
- Physical stamina may be required for on-site inspections and, occasionally, hands-on repairs.
