An Air Conditioning (Aircon) Installer is responsible for mounting, connecting, testing, and commissioning HVAC and ductless mini-split systems in residential, commercial, or industrial spaces.
Inspect installation areas, review blueprints or architectural plans, and determine optimal mounting locations for indoor and outdoor units to ensure proper airflow and structural support
Secure indoor evaporator units and exterior condenser units using brackets, concrete pads, or roof mounts
Core through walls (brick, drywall, concrete) for line sets and drainage
Measure, cut, bend, flare, and braze copper lines
Insulate refrigerant piping and route gravity-fed drain lines or condensate pumps to prevent leaks
Wire power supply connections from the main breaker panel to disconnect switches, run inter-unit control wiring, and ensure correct grounding and circuit breaker ratings
Pressure-test lines with dry nitrogen to check for leaks, pull a deep vacuum with a vacuum pump (typically below 500 microns), and weigh in additional refrigerant if lines exceed pre-charged lengths
Start the system, verify operating pressures (subcooling/superheat), measure supply/return air temperatures, and calibrate thermostats or remote controllers
Walk clients through operational basics (modes, remote functions, filter cleaning) and leave the work site clean and debris-free
