Job summary

wattgen is seeking an accomplished Frontend Engineer to build production-grade React interfaces for AI-driven products. You’ll turn specifications into polished dashboards, forms, and data views, shaping how users interact with AI and trust the results.

You’ll own the frontend from prototype through deployment in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You have 8+ years of frontend experience, are fluent in design systems, and can integrate with backend APIs, WebSockets, and SSE.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of production frontend experience.
• Experience with design systems and shared component libraries.
• Strong backend/API fluency to integrate frontend contracts.
• Strong understanding of real-time communication (WebSockets, SSE, REST).
• Solid experience with state management libraries (Redux).
• Strong understanding of micro-frontend architecture and SPAs.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship production-grade React applications for AI-driven products.

Role Overview

In this role, you'll build the interfaces through which businesses work with AI. You'll turn specifications and prototypes into production-ready front ends - the front end of time-critical systems that apply AI to real business problems. A core part of the job is shaping how people and AI agents collaborate: the controls, feedback, and interactions that let users direct AI and trust what it returns.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship production-grade React applications for AI-driven products using an AI-augmented SDLC, owning the front end from prototype through deployment.
• Build the core product interface - dashboards, workflows, forms, and data views - as polished, responsive React applications.
• Build the interface for AI features - model controls, streaming responses, and live data - handling partial results, latency, and failure states cleanly.
• Structure frontend state and architecture for complex, data-heavy single-page and micro-frontend applications.
• Make interfaces accessible and responsive across the devices and conditions clients actually use.
• Translate high-fidelity designs into code, adapting the Shadcn component library into client-specific design systems.
• Work with product designers, AI process transformation specialists, and backend and AI/ML engineers to understand model inputs and outputs and how they're visualized, and define the frontend contracts and real-time data flows (REST, WebSockets, SSE) that integrate cleanly.
• Optimize the front end for low latency, high availability, and scalability under production load.
• Improve quality and reliability through testing, instrumentation, and thoughtful handling of error and failure states.
• Evaluate new frontend tools and techniques, and bring the ones worth adopting into production.

Requirements

• 8+ years building production frontend applications, including recent work on AI-driven tools.
• Experience building and working within design systems and shared component libraries.
• Strong backend and API fluency to integrate cleanly and own the frontend contract.
• Strong understanding of real-time communication - WebSockets, Server-Sent Events (SSE), and REST APIs.
• Solid experience with state management libraries (e.g. Redux) and reactive programming paradigms.
• Strong understanding of micro-frontend architecture and single-page applications.
• Strong performance engineering - building and optimizing low-latency, high-availability UIs under production load.

Nice to Have

• Practical backend experience beyond frontend integration.
• Experience with React Testing Library and Jest for unit and integration testing.
• Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
