Job summary

You will work hands-on across platforms like OpenAI, Azure, and automation tools, developing scalable backend services and integrations while translating business requirements into reliable technology solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in software development, AI or automation engineering.
• Hands-on experience developing AI-powered solutions in a business context.
• Strong Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript skills with production-ready apps.
• Experience with APIs, REST, webhooks and third-party integrations.
• Familiarity with AI platforms like OpenAI API or Azure OpenAI.
• Experience with AI automation platforms (n8n, Make, Power Automate, Zapier).
• Cloud experience with Azure/AWS/GCP is advantageous.
• Excellent English communication and ability to work with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining AI-powered solutions and automation systems that improve business processes, productivity, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on delivery-focused role, and responsibilities may extend beyond those listed below to support the development of AI solutions, integrations, automations, and internal technology initiatives.

You will work closely with internal teams, management, and clients to understand business requirements, identify opportunities where AI and automation can add value, and develop practical technology solutions. The role requires strong software development skills, knowledge of AI and emerging technologies, and the ability to translate business requirements into reliable and scalable solutions.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement AI-powered applications, tools, workflows, and automation solutions to improve business processes and productivity.
• Identify repetitive, manual, or inefficient processes and recommend opportunities for AI, automation, and workflow improvements.
• Design and develop solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, AI agents, prompt engineering, and other relevant AI technologies.
• Develop AI-powered assistants, chatbots, document-processing solutions, knowledge bases, data extraction tools, and other business applications as required.
• Build and maintain integrations between AI solutions and existing business systems using APIs, webhooks, databases, and other integration technologies.
• Work with platforms such as OpenAI, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate, n8n, Make, or similar AI and automation platforms.
• Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, scripts, and supporting applications required for AI and automation projects.
• Work with databases, structured and unstructured data, embeddings, vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions where required.
• Test, troubleshoot, and continuously improve AI solutions to ensure accuracy, reliability, performance, security, and usability.
• Monitor AI outputs and implement appropriate validation, controls, and safeguards to minimise inaccurate or unreliable results.
• Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements, document processes, and translate business problems into practical technical solutions.
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions to demonstrate potential AI and automation opportunities before full implementation.
• Maintain clear technical documentation covering system architecture, workflows, integrations, configurations, and ongoing maintenance requirements.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for implemented AI solutions and automations, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure all solutions are developed in accordance with company security, data privacy, access control, and technology standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in software development, AI engineering, automation engineering, or a similar technical role.
• Hands-on experience developing and implementing AI-powered solutions, preferably within a business or commercial environment.
• Strong experience with Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to develop and maintain production-ready applications and scripts.
• Strong understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, AI agents, and AI application development.
• Practical experience working with APIs, REST services, webhooks, databases, and third-party system integrations.
• Experience with OpenAI API, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, or similar AI platforms is highly desirable.
• Experience with AI automation platforms such as n8n, Make, Zapier, Power Automate, or similar tools is highly desirable.
• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar technologies is highly desirable.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of software development practices, Git/version control, testing, debugging, and deployment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand business requirements and develop practical technology solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and priorities, meet deadlines, and take ownership of deliverables.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to developing secure, reliable, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
