Job summary

Sensient Technologies is seeking a Field Representative for the Philippines to coordinate with botanical colorant contract growers. You will work with the Sensient Agronomy team across Calabarzon, Iloilo, Palawan, and General Santos City to implement soil testing, farm record keeping, and trials for optimum pigment production.

The role demands 5+ years in agriculture, farm management experience, and the ability to travel up to 75% domestically.

Qualifications

  • College level/BS degree (preferably in agriculture and related fields).
  • 5+ years of experience in agriculture.
  • Experience with farms, familiarity with farm management, various farming practices including organic and conventional, and knowledge and experience in farm machinery and equipment.
  • Owns a valid driver’s license and demonstrated ability to drive a truck to remote farms.
  • Analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Local language and some English proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective team player and ability to interact effectively with farmers.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to work across diverse cultures.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sensient’s agronomy team.
  • Implements soil and water testing, GPS-positioning, and standardized farm record keeping across all contract farms.
  • Conducts regular farm visits across the region.
  • Implements germplasm adaptation trials, preliminary and advanced yield trials of breeding materials across the region.
  • Monitors for insects, weeds, diseases and abiotic stresses and recommends appropriate prophylactic and curative recommendations.
  • Develops innovative farming practices for optimum yield and pigment production of botanical colorants.
  • Works with other regional agronomists, consultants, academics and other researchers.
  • Collects data.
  • Writes timely and accurate field reports.
  • Amenable to 75% domestic travel.

Sensient Food Colors is a global leader in the development and manufacture of food colors for use throughout the world. The Field Representative role will coordinate with botanical colorant contract growers in the Philippines. The Field Representative will be based in either of these locations: Calabarzon, Iloilo, Palawan and General Santos City. The Field Representative will be a member of Sensient Agronomy team to accomplish the duties specified below.

MAIN OBJECTIVES
  • Manages contract farming relationships in the region
  • Implements standardized Sensient agronomic practices across all farms from seed to post-harvest to maximize yield in terms of pigmentation and harvest output
