Job summary

NYK-Fil Maritime e-Training, Inc. in Calamba, Laguna, seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to supervise day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger, and to lead month-end and year-end closing processes.

You will manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis, ensure compliance with local tax laws such as BIR and VAT, and coordinate with external auditors while training and mentoring the accounting staff to uphold internal controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or strong compliance background preferred.
• Proven experience with PFRS/IFRS and statutory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, and general ledger.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws (BIR, VAT, withholding) and mandatory government contributions (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG).
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closings.
• Implement internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate with external auditors and regulators.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.

About the role

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Ensure compliance with local tax laws (e.g., BIR filings, VAT, withholding tax) and mandatory government contributions (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG)

• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis

• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes

• Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies

• Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies

• Train, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff performance

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA license preferred)

• At least 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role

• Strong knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

• Proven experience in tax compliance and statutory reporting, including BIR returns, VAT, withholding taxes, and mandatory government contributions

• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Strong leadership and team management capabilities

• High level of integrity and attention to detail
