Job summary

Coderio is seeking a hands-on Senior AI Backend Engineer to join a strategic initiative for a leading hedge fund and multi-asset investing business. You will design and build MCP integrations, data pipelines, and Snowflake plug-ins to connect AI models with enterprise data.

You will work in the AI Backend stream to enable safe search, summarization, and interaction with first‑party research using cutting-edge tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python with experience building robust backend services and REST/streaming APIs.
• Hands-on experience with LLM development, tool calling, RAG architectures, embeddings, and prompt design.
• Solid SQL and data-engineering skills; Snowflake experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• MCP Integrations: Design, build, and maintain MCP servers and integrations exposing data sources to AI assistants.
• Data Pipelines & RAG: Build document-processing pipelines for unstructured research data (memos, PDFs, Word, Excel).
• Data Access Layers: Develop Snowflake plug-ins and data access layers with correct entitlements and governance.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Manage cloud infrastructure as code (Terraform on AWS) and ship production services (APIs, CI/CD, monitoring).
• Business Collaboration: Partner with non-technical users to translate complex workflows into reliable AI tools.

About The Project

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior AI Backend Engineer to join a strategic initiative for a leading hedge fund and multi‑asset investing business. As the volume and complexity of their financial data grow, this role is critical to building the underlying "plumbing" that connects AI models to enterprise data and documents.

Sitting within the AI Backend workstream, you will build Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, Snowflake plug‑ins, and robust document‑processing pipelines. Your work will enable investment and operations teams to safely search, summarize, and interact with first‑party research through cutting‑edge AI tools.

Responsibilities

• MCP Integrations: Design, build, and maintain Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and integrations that expose critical data sources and internal applications to AI assistants and agents.
• Data Pipelines & RAG: Build sophisticated document-processing pipelines for unstructured first‑party research (memos, Excel models, call notes, PDFs, Word). This includes parsing, chunking, metadata/entity tagging, embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Data Access Layers: Develop Snowflake plug‑ins and data access layers (using SQL, Snowpark, or Cortex) ensuring proper data entitlements, security, and governance.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Provision and manage cloud infrastructure as code (Terraform on AWS) and ship production-grade services (APIs, CI/CD, monitoring, logging).
• Business Collaboration: Partner directly with non-technical investment, risk, and operations users to turn complex workflows into reliable AI tools, continuously evaluating output quality.

Requirements

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, with 5 to 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Backend & Python: Strong proficiency in Python, with proven experience building robust backend services and REST/streaming APIs.
• AI & LLM Applied Experience: Hands‑on experience with LLM application development, including tool/function calling, RAG architectures, embeddings, vector search, and prompt/evaluation design (Experience with MCP is strongly preferred).
• Data Engineering: Solid SQL and data‑engineering skills. Experience extracting structured data from unstructured documents (PDF, Word, Excel). Snowflake experience is strongly preferred.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containers, Git-based CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (e.g., Terraform).
• Language: Advanced or bilingual English (C1+). Must be a clear communicator capable of working directly with non-technical business stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience in hedge funds, multi‑asset, or asset‑management environments (familiarity with portfolio, risk, P&L, and investment models).
• Experience in regulated financial‑services environments (focusing on data entitlements, security, and auditability).
• Exposure to enterprise AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot, Anthropic, or OpenAI APIs) and LLM observability tooling.
• Experience with TypeScript / Node.js.
