CIP - International Potato Center in Tarapoto, Peru seeks a Regional Focal Point to support the EU Landscape project across San Martín. You will coordinate activities, engage stakeholders, and oversee field implementation, budgets, and reporting under the Project Coordinator.

The role requires a Master’s degree and 6 years in supply/value chains, agroforestry, or related areas, with at least 2 years in NGOs, and ability to travel across the region. Proficiency in English is desirable.

Formación

Job Description

The International Potato Center (CIP), on behalf of the Landscape Alliance (CIFOR & ICRAF in Action), is looking for a proactive RegionalFocal Point to contribute to the implementation of the “EU Regulatory Compliance with Landscape Impact” Project (IKI-EUDR) in Chazuta, Tarapoto, Alonso de Alvarado, and Moyobamba.

About Landscape Alliance: Landscape Alliance (LA) is the operatingname of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and theInternational Centre for Research on Agroforestry (ICRAF). It transformsscience into action, unlocking the power of trees, forests and agroforestrylandscapes to advance planetary health and human well-being.

CIFOR and ICRAF are independent International Organizations and CGIAR Research Centers.

Aboutthe position: Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Regional Focal Point will play a key role in coordinatingand supporting project activities across the San Martín region . Theposition will assist with operational planning and field implementation, stakeholder engagement, workshop coordination, monitoring and reporting, as well as the follow-up of local project expenditures and safeguard-relatedobservations. The position will be based in Tarapoto, San Martín, Peru.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the operational planning of IKI-EUDR projectactivities in the field in San Martín, under the guidance of the Project Coordinator.
  • Follow up on and stay informed of processes related tosupply/value chains, traceability, verification, EUDR compliance, andrestoration occurring in San Martín, to keep the project team informed andresponsive.
  • Support the tracking of the local project budget inaccordance with instructions from the Finance team and the Project Coordinator.
  • Assist in the co-development of materials to strengthen multi-level capacities in restoration integrated with supply chain development,to build local stakeholder capacity.
  • Participate in fieldwork activities in selected landscapes as coordinated by the project team.

Engagement

  • Represent Landscape Alliance (CIFOR-ICRAF in action) inSan Martín in engagement activities with relevant actors on EUDR, sustainable coffee and cocoa production, landscape governance, and restoration — includingbilateral and multi-actor meetings organized by the regional government and/orcivil society, cooperatives, associations, and the private sector, andplatforms such as the SMART Initiative — to build and sustain the project'sstakeholder relationships.
  • Communicate information and feedback between San Martínstakeholders and the project team, and inform the Project Coordinator of issuesaffecting engagement.
  • Inform the Project Coordinator of relevant developmentsin other regional projects (IKI CAP4BIO, SMART Initiative) that may affect IKI-EUDR activities.
  • Participate in periodic team meetings to follow up onthe agreed workplan, to keep activities aligned with project objectives.

Delivery

  • Support the preparation of workshops in San Martínaccordingly to plans set by the project team, including coordination withparticipants, service providers, and procurement of materials.
  • Organize administrative supporting documentation inaccordance with Landscape Alliance and donor guidelines, escalating complianceissues as needed.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of results,including the organization of means of verification, and contribute to the completion of MEL reports as indicated by MEL focal points, to support evidence-based reporting.
  • Report observations related to safeguards and mitigation measures during field activities to the Project Coordinator.
  • Provide inputs on key results and support the development of notes, success stories, and other communication products incoordination with communication specialists, to document and disseminateproject progress.
Requirements

Whatare we looking for?

  • Master's degree in Agronomy, Forestry, Social Sciences,or a related discipline, with a focus on natural resource management in thePeruvian Amazon.
  • 6years of work experience in the following topics: supply/value chains, cocoaand coffee sustainable production, traceability and verification systems,agroforestry, smallholder agriculture, multi stakeholder platforms, technicalassistance.
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated professionalexperience in similar positions, especially in NGOs.
  • Knowledge of the Amazonian context, experience in theprovision of logistics support to field operations in Amazonian or ruralenvironments (desirable).
  • Ability to mobilize between Tarapoto, Chazuta, Alonsode Alvarado, Moyobamba and small villages according to project needs.
  • Ability to adapt to complex situations and changingpriorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engageeffectively with local and regional stakeholders.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and facilitationskills.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time-managementskills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in written and spoken English.
