Job summary

Near is hiring a Logistics Operator in Lima to oversee physical commodity shipments from contract to delivery, coordinating with suppliers, customers, brokers, warehouses and logistics partners. You will manage shipping documentation, invoicing, payments, and FX updates while maintaining accurate records and timely system updates.

The role requires 2+ years in commodities logistics, a bachelor’s degree, strong English and numerical skills, and MS Office proficiency.

They manage physical commodity shipments worldwide and support a growing international operation across multiple regions. Their Lima office plays an important role in global logistics and trade execution.

About the Role:

We're hiring a Logistics Operator to oversee the execution of physical commodity shipments and support the logistics process from contract through delivery. This is a hands-on operations role for someone with commodities logistics experience, strong follow-up skills, and the ability to manage multiple details accurately under pressure. You'll coordinate shipments, documentation, invoicing, payments, and system updates while working closely with suppliers, customers, brokers, warehouses, and logistics partners.

What You'll Do:

• Coordinate physical shipments with customers, suppliers, and logistics providers.
• Manage communication with suppliers, receivers, warehouses, brokers, shipping agents, and other partners.
• Prepare, review, and manage shipping documentation.
• Manage invoicing, payment terms, and payments to suppliers and logistics providers.
• Coordinate inspections, sampling, assaying, and claims processes.
• Organize shipments by vessel, truck, rail, and multimodal transport.
• Calculate and track demurrage and dispatch.
• Maintain shipping lists, debtor reports, exposure sheets, credit lines, and inventory reconciliations.
• Keep Balsamo updated with contractual and shipment information.
• Generate and analyze Balsamo reports and validate deliveries, contracts, counterparties, vessels, and locations.
• Track invoices from issuance through payment receipt.
• Update FX rates, in-transit shipments, warehouse inventory, vessel information, BL/container numbers, and shipment locations.
• Support freight optimization and other operational projects.
• Train and mentor junior team members.

Must-Have Requirements:

• 2+ years of logistics, shipping, or trade operations experience within the commodities trading or mining industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Logistics, or a related field.
• Strong English communication skills and numerical literacy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Experience managing contracts, shipment execution, invoicing, and logistics coordination.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Comfortable learning and working with Balsamo or similar logistics/trading systems.
• Availability to work Lima business hours, approximately 8:00/8:30 AM-5:00 PM.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with refined metals, raw materials, oil, energy, or similar commodities.
• Experience mentoring junior logistics or operations team members.
• Experience coordinating global or multi-region shipments.
• Familiarity with Incoterms, LME pricing orders, letters of credit, CAD, bank collections, or open account structures.
