EPAM Systems in Lima, Peru seeks a Lead Host Developer to design and evolve mainframe solutions supporting core banking operations.

You will lead cross-functional teams, contribute to reliable, high-performance applications, and oversee AI-enabled capabilities within enterprise systems.

Required: 5+ years in software development with leadership, COBOL on IBM z/OS, JCL, CICS, Db2/SQL; fluent English and Spanish.

Formación

• Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
• At least 1 year of leading and managing development teams.
• Practical experience with COBOL on IBM z/OS.
• Solid command of batch processing using JCL.
• Experience in transactional application development with CICS.
• Strong knowledge of IBM Db2 and SQL databases.
• Background in AI solution engineering and Gen AI for enterprise systems.
• Experience in Gen AI application development and Gen AI assisted development.
• Proficiency in Prompt Engineering for AI prompts.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish at B2 level or higher.

We are seeking a talented Lead Host Developer to join our team. In this role, you will take an active part in designing and evolving vital mainframe solutions that support core banking operations. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to delivering reliable and high-performing applications that meet business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and evolution of core banking applications that support key business processes
• Deliver corrective, adaptive, and evolutionary maintenance for mission-critical applications with demanding high-availability standards
• Investigate and address production incidents to minimize the impact on banking activities
• Assist with functional, integration, and certification testing to ensure application stability ahead of deployment

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of applicable professional experience in software development or a similar area
• No less than one year of experience leading and managing development teams
• Practical experience in application development with COBOL on IBM z/OS
• Solid command of batch process programming using JCL
• Skilled in transactional application development with CICS
• Strong knowledge of IBM Db2 and SQL databases for handling data and executing queries
• Real-world background in AI Solution Engineering for designing and implementing AI-driven capabilities within enterprise systems
• Experience in Gen AI Application Development for producing solutions powered by generative AI models
• Practical involvement in Gen AI Assisted Development to accelerate coding, testing, and delivery workflows
• Proficiency in Prompt Engineering for producing effective, reliable, and well-tuned prompts for AI models
• Confident written and spoken command of English and Spanish at a B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Advanced expertise with COBOL for maintaining and enhancing legacy business-critical systems
• Wider experience with CICS for developing and supporting transactional applications
