Bluelight is a leading software consultancy seeking a backend-focused engineer to join our rapidly growing team. You will design and implement high-performance APIs, collaborate across product and AWS deployment, and contribute to a wide range of challenging projects for diverse clients.

The role requires 5+ years of professional experience, Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL, with a focus on security, multi-tenant architectures, and robust testing.

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused).
• Strong expertise with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency APIs in AWS and scalable RESTful services.
• SQL proficiency and database schema migrations (PostgreSQL).
• Secure multi-tenant architecture and RLS awareness.
• Experience with React and modern testing practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and AWS container services.
• Bachelor's degree required and strong ownership mentality.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in compliance-sensitive or audit-heavy domains (e.g., fintech, telecom/TCPA compliance)
