ADVANCED PROCESS CONTROL ENGINEER — APC Specialist

As an Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer specializing in Model Predictive Control (MPC), you will apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills, collaborate with global experts, and support our customers in achieving sustainable, reliable, and value-driven operations across grinding, flotation and thickening circuits.
You will be part of our Digital – Life Cycle Offering team, contributing to optimization initiatives and digital solution deployments across Latin America and worldwide.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the development, configuration, and deployment of MPC-based APC control strategies for comminution and flotation circuits
- Deliver engineering and commissioning packages on time, within budget, and with high quality for assigned projects
- Perform on-site commissioning, tuning, and start-up support of APC systems
- Analyze process data to identify optimization opportunities and quantify value delivered
- Troubleshoot control performance and recommend improvements
- Collaborate with site teams to ensure measurable and sustainable value delivery
- Build capability within customer teams to operate and maintain APC systems autonomously
- Prepare technical documentation and clearly communicate results to internal and external stakeholders
- Implement and integrate digital smart devices such as cameras and sensors
- Provide post-commissioning technical support and system diagnostics
- Support continuous improvement of APC service offerings
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Control & Automation Engineering, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in APC, automation, or process optimization across copper, molybdenum and other mineral processing industries
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying Model Predictive Control (MPC) and/or model-less multivariable control strategies
- Experience with comminution and/or flotation control systems
- Programming skills (e.g., Python) and a solid understanding of advanced control technologies
- Experience with on-site commissioning and start-up of control systems
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities
- Solid understanding of mineral processing fundamentals
- Ability to interpret process data and KPIs to drive improvements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to travel extensively to support local and global customer sites
- Spanish and English proficiency is an advantage given the regional scope
