Job summary

Ogier Legal Limited is seeking an Associate - Funds to support high-quality legal advice across fund matters and to develop expertise in this practice area. The role emphasizes client service, regulatory knowledge and efficient matter management.

The successful candidate will draft fund documentation, manage relationships, and contribute to KM initiatives while handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with 3-6 years' post-qualification experience.
• LLB (Hons) with strong academics and 2:1 (or equivalent).
• Experience in investment funds, private equity or regulatory advisory.
• Excellent drafting, communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with clients and intermediaries.
• Draft and review fund launches, maintenance and terminations.
• Advise on regulatory obligations for investment funds.
• Ensure timely billing and debt collection.
• Manage time and resources efficiently with accurate time records.
• Contribute to Knowledge Management and keep information current.

Compensation: $165,000 - $220,000 / year

Description

To support the delivery of high-quality legal advice and client service across a broad range of matters, while developing technical expertise, commercial awareness and strong relationships with clients, intermediaries and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain productive working relationships with clients, intermediaries and colleagues. Establish credibility, influence where appropriate and provide excellent client service;
• Draft and review documentation relating to fund launches, ongoing maintenance and terminations;
• Understand and advise on regulatory obligations applicable to investment funds;
• Ensure timeliness of billing and debt collection;
• Ensure effective management of time, effort and resources to generate maximum efficiencies and maintain accurate time records at all times;
• Contribute to Knowledge Management (KM) information/system and ensure contributions are accurate and current;
• Build knowledge and experience in practice area to the highest standards;
• Take ownership of matters and workstreams, managing competing priorities effectively and escalating issues appropriately.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Qualified Lawyer with 3-6 years' post-qualification experience;
• LLB (Hons) from a reputable tertiary institution, with strong academic credentials and a minimum 2:1 classification (or equivalent);
• Relevant experience gained with a leading law firm in investment funds, private equity, regulatory advisory and/or general corporate and commercial matters;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
• Excellent organisational and time management skills;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and recommend appropriate solutions;
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; and
• Excellent drafting skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.
