San Silvestre School in Lima invites applications for a Creative & Visual Arts Assistant. This on-site, full-time role supports the heart of our cultural community across Primary and Secondary sections, acting as a bridge between Visual Arts, Music, and Drama departments.

You will handle studio logistics, event prep, classroom support, and administration while promoting a positive, creative learning environment and contributing to school exhibitions and productions.

Formación

  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong spoken and written communication.
  • Experience administering in a school environment.

  • Experience in arts or music programs is a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Support classroom organization and in-class assistance as directed by teachers.
  • Coordinate between Primary and Secondary art rooms and departments.
  • Receptionist duties for Creative Arts and Visual Arts, handling inquiries from students, staff, parents, and community.
  • Assist with events, exhibitions, and promotional activities for the arts programs.
  • Monitor student welfare and liaise with teachers and SLT on concerns.

We are looking for an energetic and highly organized Creative & Visual Arts Assistant to join our team and support the heart of our cultural community across Primary and Secondary sections.

The Role

This is a dynamic, full-time on-site position designed for a collaborative multi-tasker. You will act as the operational bridge between our Visual Arts, Music, and Drama departments—handling everything from studio logistics and event preparation to departmental administration and student support.

Roles and Responsibilities
General & Administrative Support
  • Support classroom organization procedures under the direction of the teachers
  • Provide in-class support for specific classes or projects as required, including supporting non-specialist teachers delivering cover lessons
  • Working between Primary and Secondary art rooms and departments (e.g. moving materials between buildings)
  • Act as Creative Arts and Visual Arts receptionist to respond to student, staff, parent, and community and event related enquiries
  • Liaison with maintenance, purchasing, finance, and HR teams (including billing and staff contract hours)
  • Attend school concerts, exhibitions, and performances after hours on flex-time
  • Support with the extra-curricular after school CCA programme
  • Ensure consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required by the SLT
Visual Arts Specific Duties
  • Organization and maintenance of the ceramics area
  • Loading, unloading and firing the ceramics kiln
  • Monitoring stock and organizing storage of tools and materials
  • Preparing materials for specific places or projects (e.g. cutting paper, fabric, wire, preparing clay, filling glue containers, etc.)
Creative Arts Specific Duties (Music & Drama)
  • Oversee the acquisition, storage, care, and inventories of music equipment, instruments, drama costumes, props, and set pieces
  • Monitor and oversee instrument maintenance and hire
  • Monitor student attendance at instrumental music lessons and follow up absences
  • Promote and manage the instrumental lessons enrolment process, maintain student records and coordinate lesson timetabling
  • Manage student entries for the London College of Music examinations
  • Provide technical support in IGCSE and IB Drama classes for practical coursework
  • Provide administrative support for the Grade 5 Beginner Band Programme
  • Assist with private music reports
  • Attend semesterly instrumental music team meetings and facilitate orientation of new instrumental music staff
Events, Exhibitions, and Promotion
  • Assist in preparation and set up of Creative Arts and Visual Arts events, including concerts, presentations, productions, internal/inter-school exhibitions, and displays
  • Support production of school plays and musics in a producer/assistant role, and contribute to the design and creation of certain set pieces and other production elements.
  • Promote the Creative and Visual Arts within the school and wider community by liaising with the school publicity team, including noticeboards, publishing student reflections, and photographing student work for department records, school bulletins, and social media
  • Support teachers in creating publications such as posters, programs, and checklists associated with events
  • Assist in the organisation of department excursions
Relationships & Student Welfare
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the visual art and creative arts teaching teams and other members of the organization
  • Ensure a positive, open, and professional relationship with teachers, colleagues, and the Senior Leadership Teams of the Sections
  • Represent the school positively in the School and wider community
  • Maintain appropriate relationships and interactions with young people (e.g. supporting small groups and individual student projects and reinforcing school rules)
  • Monitor students’ social and emotional wellbeing in the classroom and report any concerns to teachers in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the School’s health and safety, earthquake evacuation, child protection, and all other policies pertaining to student welfare are strictly followed using established procedures in a timely and confidential manner
Knowledge and Competencies Required
  • Willingness to commit to, understand, and embody the philosophy and ethos of San Silvestre School
  • Develop a working understanding of the curriculum, policies, and procedures of the different sections and the School
  • Administration experience in a school environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and interact effectively at all levels of the school
  • Good communicator, fully bilingual (fluent written and spoken English and Spanish), and willing to contribute to department meetings
  • Ability to work with specific forms of technology and software used in the fulfillment of the role
  • Ability to effectively manage one’s own time, work unsupervised, take initiative, and be proactive
  • Creative problem-solver, flexible, with a willingness to learn
  • Experience working with a music or arts programme
  • Musical knowledge or experience
