Job Purpose:
To drive the growth of Bank Nizwa's Wealth Management business and support the Bank's strategic objective of increasing Non-Funded Income (NFI) by developing, managing and deepening relationships with affluent and high-net-worth customers.
The Wealth Advisor is responsible for identifying customer financial and investment needs and providing suitable Shariah-compliant wealth solutions from the Bank's approved product portfolio. The role will focus on increasing investment penetration, fee-based income, customer wallet share, assets under management/advisory, customer acquisition and retention.
The role will work closely with Retail Banking, Branches, Relationship Managers and relevant internal and external stakeholders to build a sustainable pipeline of wealth opportunities while ensuring full compliance with the Bank's policies, Shariah principles and applicable regulatory requirements.
Main Tasks & Accountabilities:
NFI & Wealth Revenue Growth
- Deliver assigned Wealth Management revenue and NFI targets in line with the Bank’s approved business strategy.
- Identify and develop sustainable sources of fee-based and non-funded income from the Retail Banking customer base.
- Develop a strong pipeline of investment and wealth opportunities and actively manage opportunities through to successful closure.
- Monitor individual performance against NFI, investment, customer acquisition and other assigned business targets.
Wealth Advisory & Customer Needs Assessment
- Conduct comprehensive discussions with customers to understand their financial objectives, investment requirements, liquidity needs and risk appetite.
- Recommend suitable Shariah-compliant wealth and investment solutions from the Bank’s approved product range.
- Ensure that recommendations are appropriate to the customer profile and supported by proper documentation and suitability assessment, where applicable.
- Maintain regular engagement with customers to review their financial needs and identify new business opportunities.
Affluent & High-Net-Worth Customer Management
- Build and maintain long‑term relationships with affluent and high-net‑worth customers.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for customers in relation to the Bank’s wealth and investment propositions.
- Increase customer wallet share by identifying opportunities across investment, deposits, financing and other relevant Retail Banking propositions.
- Proactively manage customer retention and identify customers at risk of reducing or transferring their investments or banking relationship.
New Customer Acquisition
- Identify and acquire new affluent and high‑net‑worth customers through internal referrals, networking, existing customer referrals and approved business development activities.
- Develop relationships with prospective customers and convert qualified prospects into active Bank Nizwa relationships.
- Support the development of customer acquisition initiatives targeting identified wealth segments.
Investment & Wealth Product Penetration
- Promote the Bank’s approved Shariah‑compliant investment, wealth and fee‑generating products to eligible customers.
- Increase product penetration across the existing Retail Banking customer portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to migrate suitable customers into relevant wealth/affluent propositions.
- Support the introduction and commercialization of new wealth products and propositions.
Branch & Relationship Manager Enablement
- Work closely with Branch Managers, Relationship Managers and other frontline teams to identify customers with wealth potential.
- Establish an effective referral mechanism and actively follow up on leads generated by the Retail Banking network.
- Conduct regular engagement and awareness sessions for frontline staff regarding wealth products, customer profiling and referral opportunities.
- Support branches and Relationship Managers during key customer meetings where wealth expertise is required.
Portfolio Management & Business Analytics
- Maintain an active portfolio/pipeline of wealth customers and prospects.
- Monitor portfolio performance including NFI generation, investment placements, customer acquisition, retention and product penetration.
- Analyse customer portfolios to identify untapped opportunities and recommend appropriate actions.
- Provide regular management reporting on business performance, pipeline development, customer activity and achievement against targets.
Customer Experience
- Deliver a high standard of service consistent with Bank Nizwa’s customer experience standards.
- Ensure timely execution and follow‑up of customer investment instructions and service requirements.
- Coordinate with relevant internal departments to resolve customer issues and ensure smooth delivery of wealth services.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional handling of sensitive customer financial information at all times.
Wealth Proposition Development
- Provide market and customer feedback to support enhancement of the Bank’s wealth proposition.
- Identify gaps in the existing product offering and recommend opportunities for new products, partnerships and fee‑generating services.
- Work with Product, Strategy and other stakeholders to develop propositions relevant to affluent and high‑net‑worth customers.
- Keep abreast of market developments, customer trends and competitor wealth propositions.
Governance, Compliance & Shariah
- Ensure all wealth‑related activities are performed in accordance with Bank policies, approved procedures, applicable regulatory requirements and Shariah principles.
- Ensure products are offered strictly within approved customer eligibility, suitability and product governance requirements.
- Comply with KYC, AML/CFT, customer due diligence and other applicable controls.
- Ensure no unauthorized investment advice, commitment or representation is made outside the Bank’s approved product and advisory framework.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of customer interactions, recommendations and transactions where required.
Internal Coordination
- Coordinate with Retail Banking, Treasury/Investment, Product Management, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Shariah, Finance, Marketing and other relevant functions for the effective delivery of the wealth proposition.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure operational readiness and timely execution of customer transactions.
- Escalate material customer, operational, compliance or business issues to the appropriate management level.
Strategic Contribution
- Support implementation of the Bank’s Retail Banking and NFI strategy with particular focus on growing sustainable fee‑based revenue.
- Contribute to the preparation of wealth business plans, budgets, targets and initiatives.
- Identify market opportunities that can strengthen Bank Nizwa’s position in the affluent and wealth management segment.
- Perform any other related responsibilities assigned by management in support of the Bank’s objectives.
Education Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, Investment Management or other relevant discipline.
- Master’s degree in finance, Investment Management, Banking, Business Administration or related discipline.
Professional Qualifications:
- Relevant professional qualification in investment, wealth management or financial planning.
- CFA, CISI, CWM or equivalent wealth/investment qualification would be an advantage.
- Any regulatory certification or licence required for conducting investment or wealth advisory activities in Oman, where applicable.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant banking/financial services experience, preferably within Wealth Management, Priority Banking, Private Banking, Investments or affluent customer relationship management.
- Demonstrated experience in managing affluent and/or high-net-worth customer relationships.
- Strong track record in achieving revenue, NFI, investment or sales targets.
- Experience in Shariah-compliant banking and investment products would be an advantage.
- Good understanding of investment products, financial markets, customer profiling and portfolio concepts.
- Experience in developing business through referrals, cross‑selling and relationship deepening.
