Job summary

Cheltenham Muscat is seeking a passionate swimming instructor to join the team in August 2026. You will deliver curriculum swimming as part of the PE programme and lead academy sessions for school and community participants.

The successful candidate will plan lessons, teach a range of ages, supervise lifeguards and contribute to curriculum development while maintaining high safeguarding and communication standards.

Qualifications

• Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification held.
• First Aid Qualification obtained.
• Pool Lifeguard / NRASRC Qualification held.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver swimming lessons.
• Explain and demonstrate swim techniques, correcting faults in technique where necessary, identifying ways to improve performance.
• Integrate Swim England programmed rewards schemes built into lessons.
• Ensure safety standards are followed, undertaking risk assessments where necessary.
• Maintain records on attendance, performance and progress, evaluating sessions and providing feedback to key stakeholders.
• Supervise the swimming assistants and lifeguards on duty.
• Monitor and assess students' attainment and progress.
• Contribute to curriculum development and adaptation with particular attention to the swimming curriculum.
