Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

To supervise all hull and engine room steel outfitting work in E/R and Pipe repair activities carried out for ship repair work in order to ensure the outfitting activities of ship repair work are conducted as per timelines, quality, health , safety and environment standards established within ODC.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Day-to-Day Operations:

  • Assign and supervise onsite day-to-day work, providing guidance to the pipe team and resolving related issues in order to ensure that the job is completed as per the work package, drawings, schedule and budget.
  • Maintain the tidiness and cleanliness of the workshop facilities and all equipment under their control in order to facilitate a clean working environment and to ensure compliance with the health, safety and environment standards of ODC.
  • To carry out ID of the jobs with owners.
  • To attend on board meeting with OWNERS/ SRM on daily basis.
  • Carry out specific TBT to all workers on daily basis.
  • Start and stop must be ensured by their team of workers.
  • To arrange materials for the workers well before and pre planning, execution and should be goal oriented which is been prepared by Foreman.
  • Assist to engineers to compile WCR on weekly basis for long repair and every alternate day for small repair projects.
  • Progress of the work carried out has to be checked on daily basis.
  • Manpower request has to be done legitimately and Manpower and man hours control is prime responsibility.
  • Participate in preparing Risk Assessment along with Engineers / Preparator.
  • Prepare NCR as and when quality / production errors happen and safety Incident Form as and when injuries / damage to properties do happen with root cause, preventive and corrective action.
  • Night shift hand over has to be specific and materials to be arranged intended to carry out the job.
  • To request services like staging, utilities and crane request individually and follow up.
  • Interaction with SRM / Owner about progress of the work and carry out inspection with QC / Owners is prime responsibility.
  • Supervise the outfitting activities such as hull and engine room steel outfitting work, Pipe related repair activities etc. of the ships in order to ensure the activities are completed as per timelines and established quality standards.
  • Supervise the fitting, welding, installation, pressure testing activities of the workers to ensure they are being performed in a proper manner to support the outfitting jobs’ quality.
  • To support other sections of Outfitting Department as and when required.

Technical Assistance and Guidance:

· Carry out complex or difficult outfitting jobs and provide guidance to the workers in order to facilitate learning and development of the team.

Material Requirements and Use:

§ Coordinate with the Engineer or Section Head if and when required by the Outfitting department in order to ensure that material requirements are provided timely and accurately to complete job requirements.

§ Monitor and control the use of materials in order to minimise wastage of materials and financial losses.

§ Maintain the stock of consumables and spares for all outfitting jobs in order to ensure efficient work is been carried out.

Preparing Reports:

§ Prepare daily reports on progress outfitting activities in order to keep his supervisor aware of the progress and ensure the work is completed as per approved schedules.

  • Adhere to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions and controls in order to guarantee the safety of employees, quality of products/ services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Polytechnic Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6 years of relevant experience in outfitting jobs such as steel outfitting and Pipe repair activities in ship yard or similar work; including at least 2-3 year in positions of supervisory responsibilities

Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding ISO and Fabrication drawing of Pipes/Structure works and supervision skills
