Position Title: Superintendent - HSEQ Training and Compliance

Job Purpose:

The HSEQ Training and Compliance Superintendent plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational excellence of our company-managed vessels. This position involves monitoring and organizing training activities for ship staff, traveling to various vessels, and conducting safety and on-job training onboard. The goal is to uphold the highest standards of maritime safety and efficiency through hands-on training, compliance audits, and performance evaluations.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Develop, implement, and conduct safety training programs: Ensure crew are well-versed in emergency procedures, safety protocols, and operational best practices. Measure success through crew preparedness and improved inspection results.
  2. Provide on-job training: Tailor training to vessel needs, mentor crew, and enhance operational and technical skills to reduce incidents.
  3. Perform compliance audits: Ensure adherence to maritime regulations, company policies, and safety standards. Work with management to address non-conformities.
  4. Record keeping and reporting: Maintain detailed records and prepare reports for senior management to improve training and compliance processes.
  5. Assess training effectiveness: Continuously improve training materials and safety protocols based on evaluations.
  6. Performance evaluation and development: Provide feedback, support career growth, and maintain a pool of qualified officers and crew.
  7. Incident investigation: Contribute to root cause analysis and preventive measures for safety incidents.
  8. Stay updated with maritime regulations: Ensure training and compliance activities reflect the latest standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Class 1 Master/Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency
  • ISM/ISO Auditor certification (preferable)
  • Training or Train the Trainer certification (preferable)
  • Fluent in English, computer literate
  • Experience in incident investigation (preferably DNV M-SCATT)
  • Sea service as Senior Deck or Engine Officer / Master or Chief Engineer (minimum 5 years)
