WSP is currently seeking a Site Inspector Engineer – Shore Protection & Storm Water Drainage to join our team in Sohar, Oman. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising and inspecting marine civil works focused on shoreline protection systems and storm water drainage infrastructure, ensuring all works align with project specifications, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.""
Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections and supervision of shoreline protection works including revetments, rock armoring, seawalls, and geotextile installations.
- Oversee the installation of storm water drainage systems such as culverts, pipelines, manholes, and outfalls in marine/coastal zones.
- Ensure that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and project standards.
- Monitor the contractor’s adherence to the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality control processes.
- Identify non-conformities and recommend corrective actions to ensure quality compliance.
- Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing construction methodologies, shop drawings, and material submissions.
- Coordinate with other discipline inspectors and the contractor for smooth execution of works.
- Monitor environmental and coastal protection measures implemented on site.
- Prepare and maintain detailed site inspection reports and daily construction logs.
- Ensure compliance with project-specific HSE requirements and report any incidents or unsafe practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in marine or coastal projects, with a focus on shore protection and storm water drainage systems.
- Proven experience in revetment construction, rock placement, and storm water infrastructure in coastal/marine environments.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering practices and international standards related to marine infrastructure.
- Experience working in the Gulf region, preferably in Oman or similar environments.
- Strong organizational and reporting skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in challenging site conditions and coordinate with diverse teams.
