Job summary

SYSTRA is seeking a Site Engineer – Trackwork to monitor contractor performance, ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and construction schedules. You will report progress to the PMC management team and client, supervising trackwork activities on site.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 10 years in railway projects, with proven supervision or inspection experience and familiarity with ballast or slab track systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant railway experience.
• Experience in trackwork construction supervision or inspection.
• Knowledge of railway track components, installation methods, tolerances and quality control requirements.
• Exposure to ballast track and/or slab track systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor trackwork construction activities on site.
• Review compliance with drawings, method statements and project quality requirements.
• Inspect track installation components and alignment.
• Coordinate with civil, systems, signaling and electrification teams.
• Monitor contractor resources, program, and progress against the plan.
• Identify issues and escalate to PMC Project Manager or Resident Engineer as needed.
• Witness inspections, testing and commissioning activities for trackwork.
• Review contractor submissions such as shop drawings and progress reports.
• Ensure work complies with health, safety and environmental requirements.

Context

We are seeking aSite Engineer – Trackwork. The role is responsible for monitoring contractor performance, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, approved drawings, and construction schedules, and reporting site progress to the PMC management team and client.

Missions/Main Duties

• Supervise and monitor trackwork construction activities carried out by contractors on site.
• Review and verify compliance with approved drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, technical specifications, and project quality requirements.
• Inspect track installation works including rail, sleepers, ballast, fastening systems, turnouts, alignment, levels, and associated components.
• Coordinate with civil, systems, signaling, electrification, and interface teams to ensure smooth execution of trackwork activities.
• Monitor contractor resources, manpower, equipment, and construction sequences against the approved program.
• Identify construction issues, technical deviations, and site constraints, and elevate them to the PMC Project Manager or Resident Engineer as required.
• Witness inspections, testing, and commissioning-related activities for trackwork elements.
• Review contractor submissions such as shop drawings, material approvals, work method statements, and progress reports.
• Ensure that all work is executed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental requirements and report any unsafe conditions or practices.
• Track daily progress, site productivity, and work fronts, and prepare site observations and progress updates.
• Participate in site meetings, coordination meetings, inspections, and walkdowns with the client and contractors.

Profile/Skills

• Bachelor’s degree inCivil Engineeringor a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum10 yearsof relevant experience in railway projects.
• Proven experience intrackwork construction supervisionor inspection, preferably in a PMC, consultant, or supervision environment.
• Good knowledge of railway track components, installation methods, tolerances, and quality control requirements
• Exposure to ballast track and/or slab track systems.
