Job summary

OQ8 is looking for an experienced Production Planning & Scheduling specialist to maintain and develop refinery LP and APS models, ensuring they reflect refinery configuration, feedstock characteristics, constraints, logistics, product specs, and business objectives.

You will support informed decision-making, refinery optimization, and margin maximization through accurate modelling, plan-versus-actual analysis, crude assay management, and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in production planning, refinery optimization, refinery economics, production scheduling.
• Demonstrated experience in refinery LP and Scheduling model development, maintenance and validation on senior level.
• Proficiency in Aspen PIMS or equivalent refinery optimization software including model development and maintenance.
• Proficiency in Aspen Petroleum Scheduler (APS) or equivalent refinery scheduling software, including model development and maintenance.
• Strong data management and analytical capabilities using Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, validate, and continuously enhance the refinery LP model to accurately represent refinery configuration, process unit performance, and economic drivers.
• Maintain, develop, and optimize the APS Scheduling model to reflect refinery operation, logistics constraints, inventory management requirements, and scheduling limitations.
• Ensure LP and APS models accurately represent current refinery operating constraints and business requirements, enabling planning, scheduling, optimization, and margin maximization.
• Act as the focal point for all LP and APS modelling activities, coordinating with Process Engineering, Operations, Commercial, and other stakeholders.
• Proactively manage the monthly LP and APS model update cycle, ensuring inputs, parameters, and data are reviewed, validated, and updated in a timely manner.
• Deliver validated and up-to-date LP and APS models within agreed planning and scheduling deadlines.
• Coordinate model updates from operational changes, debottlenecking initiatives, and new business requirements.
• Perform plan-versus-actual analyses to identify gaps and implement corrective model improvements.
• Provide model-based insights and recommendations on refinery performance, feedstock selection, and value improvement opportunities.
• Maintain the refinery crude assay database, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
