Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Engineer in Saudi Arabia to lead the reliability and compliance of process control systems across our gold refining and CIL plant operations. This role ensures the precision of measurement instruments critical to LBMA-grade bullion production and assay laboratory accuracy. The engineer will drive maintenance excellence and technical integrity in alignment with Saudi industrial standards and Vision 2030 mining objectives.
The Senior Instrumentation Engineer will report directly to the Engineering & Projects Manager and will play a key role in optimizing plant automation and safety instrumented systems. This position impacts operational continuity by minimizing downtime and ensuring strict adherence to metrology and HSE regulations.
The following responsibilities define the core accountabilities for this position.
The role develops and executes comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance plans for all field instruments, control valves, and analytical sensors to ensure high availability.
The engineer configures and troubleshoots DCS and PLC logic to maintain stable process parameters for acid digestion, electrolytic refining, and utility systems.
The position manages the annual calibration program for critical measurement devices, ensuring traceability to international standards and compliance with ISO 17025 requirements.
The engineer leads the installation, loop checking, and commissioning of instrumentation for capital projects, ensuring alignment with design specifications and safety standards.
The role verifies the functional integrity of emergency shutdown systems and participates in HAZOP studies to maintain required safety integrity levels.
The engineer performs root cause analysis on complex instrument failures and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve reliability.
The position supervises external contractors during maintenance shutdowns and project executions, ensuring compliance with SGR HSE and quality standards.
The engineer manages the critical spare parts inventory for instrumentation, optimizing stock levels to balance cost efficiency with operational readiness.
The role ensures all instrumentation installations and practices adhere to SASO regulations, Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources guidelines, and internal policies.
The engineer provides technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
