Job summary

Worley in Muscat, Oman is seeking a senior Project Manager to lead engineering deliverables across EPCM projects from FEED through start-up. You will drive safe design, technical integrity, and cross-functional coordination among engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.

You will mentor a multidisciplinary group, promote standardized methods, and push continuous improvement to meet schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in Oil & Gas design and engineering from FEED through start-up.
• 5–10 years as Engineering Manager leading multidisciplinary teams in Brownfield projects.
• Proven track record managing activities across multiple disciplines in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the OneWay™ framework and promote it within the team to support Zero Harm Behaviour.
• Ensure safe engineering and design practices are applied throughout project execution.
• Ensure overall technical integrity and safe design principles across all projects.
• Ensure engineering team members fulfill safety, quality, and technical compliance responsibilities.
• Coordinate multi-discipline engineering activities and resolve inter-discipline issues and conflicts.
• Implement and maintain engineering change management processes.
• Coordinate technical and peer reviews of engineering deliverables.
• Identify requirements for specialist technical support and engage subject matter experts as needed.
• Manage interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and other project stakeholders.
• Monitor engineering progress and alignment with objectives, schedules, and budgets.
• Support project risk management by identifying and mitigating engineering risks.
• Promote lessons learned and continuous improvement across the team.

Primary Objectives / Responsibilities

Oversee the development of engineering deliverables necessary for the successful implementation of projects executed under EPCM contracts. Design and develop innovative technical approaches to complex engineering challenges and contribute to continuous business improvement initiatives. Develop and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous professional development. Drive work methods, processes, and systems that ensure engineering and design deliverables are completed to the required quality standards, within agreed schedules and budgets. Provide clear communication and coordination between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, and other project stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement in engineering effectiveness and efficiency through elimination, simplification, standardization, and automation while maintaining high-quality engineering and design outcomes.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Minimum 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas Design and Engineering. Experience performing as a professional engineer for projects and plant modifications from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through execution, commissioning, and start-up.
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience as an Engineering Manager leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in Brownfield Oil & Gas project delivery environments.
• Proven experience managing engineering activities across multiple disciplines within complex project execution environments.
• Experience in the Middle East is an advantage.
• Experience in front-end engineering, detailed design, project execution, commissioning, and start-up.
• Strong project management and leadership experience.
• Experience managing engineering support for procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

Required Competencies

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineering status or equivalent professional registration.
• Proven leadership skills and strong personal drive to achieve project objectives and deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Team player with clear evidence of collaborating effectively to achieve business goals.

• Strong commitment to HSSE leadership and experience managing HSSE requirements throughout all project phases.
• Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and design activities within the Oil & Gas industry.
