Job summary

Client of Dolphin Manpower is seeking an optical technician to join their retail optical shop in Oman. You will read prescriptions, take precise measurements, cut and mount lenses, and ensure high-quality spectacles for customers.

Responsibilities include operating optical equipment such as lensometers and edgers, verifying lens powers, and maintaining a clean, safe shop environment. Prior experience with diverse lens types and accurate quality checks is essential.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in optical technician roles.
• Ability to accurately interpret prescriptions.
• Attention to detail and steady hand for precise measurements.

Job description

• Read and accurately interpret prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists
• Take precise measurements such as PD segment height and optical center
• Cut edge shape and mount lenses into different types of frames
• Operate optical equipment such as lensometer digital edger and lens fitting tools
• Check lens power and verify the accuracy of finished spectacles
• Adjust frames to provide a comfortable and proper fit
• Repair spectacles replace screws nose pads and other small components
• Assist customers in selecting suitable frames and lenses according to their prescription and requirements
• Handle single-vision bifocal progressive and other lens types
• Perform final quality checks before delivering eyewear to customersMaintain records of prescriptions measurements and eyewear specifications
• Maintain and clean optical equipment and report technical problems
• Monitor stock of lenses frames and optical accessories
• Maintain a clean organized and safe optical shop laboratory
