Job summary

Gender in Oman is seeking a Wheel Loader Operator to safely load, unload, transfer and stack materials within the shipyard. You will support shipbuilding, ship repair and yard operations by handling scrap metal, steel plates, sand and containers while coordinating with supervisors to ensure safe, on-time material movement.

You will perform daily inspections, maintain the equipment, record basic data, and follow HSSE regulations, traffic controls and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with Oman forklift/loader license.
• About 2 years of relevant experience operating wheel loader/backhoe in construction or shipyard.
• Knowledge of HSSE regulations and daily equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Excavation, loading and unloading of earth materials and stock yard segregation as directed by the supervisor.
• Operate Wheel Loader/ Excavator/ Backhoe loader for excavation and material handling tasks.
• Transport materials between loading, unloading, processing and storage areas to prevent damage and ensure site needs are met.
• Use standard hand signals for equipment operations to communicate directions and safety.

The Wheel Loader Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating the wheel loader within the shipyard premises to support material handling activities. The primary purpose of the role is to load, unload, transfer, and stack various materials, equipment, and waste items required for shipbuilding, ship repair, and yard operations. The operator handles materials such as scrap metal, steel plates, sand, aggregates, debris, containers, and other heavy items, ensuring proper loading onto trucks, trailers, or designated storage areas. The role also includes transporting materials between work sites, stores, and laydown areas as per operational requirements. The Wheel Loader Operator is responsible for conducting daily equipment inspections, maintaining the machine in good working condition, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. All activities must be carried out in compliance with ADC s safety regulations, traffic management procedures, and environmental standards to ensure safe and smooth yard operations.

1- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Description

Day-to-Day Operations

• Follow the daily action plan laid out by the Supervisor in order to ensure Excavation, loading and unloading of earth materials and material segregation in stock yard and other works as required by the section.
• Excavator/ Wheel Loader/ Backhoe loader Operation
• Operate an Wheel Loader, Excavator/ Backhoe loader for excavation operation, loading & unloading operation, stock piling in construction works and coordinate with supervisors in order to carry out safe and accurate excavation operations.
• Transport materials between loading, unloading, processing and storage areas in order to ensure the materials are moved carefully to site location and no damage is caused to it.
• Utilise the standard hand signals for equipment operations in order to signal to others the directions, emergencies and path clearance as per established standards of HSSE/ROP.

Data Recording

• Handled materials or products, and record weight and other production data on tags or labels to ensure the materials off-loaded are tracked for damages, loss, quantity in order to maintain the quality and quantity of products brought to waste management s system.

Equipment Maintenance

• Perform routine pre and post inspections on Wheel Loader/ Backhoe loader / Excavator in order to ensure they are operating well and as per established quality, health and safety standards.
• Carry out preventive maintenance of Excavator, Wheel Loader/ Backhoe loader such as lubricating the equipment and report to Supervisor to request for maintenance on the criticality in order to ensure that the equipment is usable and the problem is resolved in minimal amount of time.
• Prepare logbook for routine, preventive, breakdown maintenance of Excavator, Wheel Loader/ Backhoe loader in the industrial facilities in order to facilitate ease of access and reusability when required.
• Follow all relevant Production Support departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• Adhere to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures including personal protection requirement such as hard hats, gloves, protective footwear and personal fall arrest equipment, etc., instructions, controls and demonstrate the proper application of tag lines and their importance in safe lifting operations in order to guarantee the safety of employees, quality of products/ services and environmental compliances.
• Review and describe the need for emergency response procedures for various situations such as electrical or mechanical failure, operator retrieval procedures (cab cranes), Incidents etc. in order to ensure continuity of operations in cases of emergencies.

Desired Candidate Profile

• High School graduate or equivalent
• License from concerned authority to operate forklift in Oman
• 2 years of relevant experience in operating a Excavator, Wheel Loader/ Backhoe loader operation in Construction or shipyard facility or similar work
• Understanding of general daily maintenance of the Excavator, Wheel Loader/ Backhoe loader
• Rules & regulations of ROP/SEZAD/Govt. Authorities in Oman
