Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Center (SQCCCRC) in Muscat Oman a Quaternary care level center providing care for adult patients with solid malignancies (No hematological malignancies).

The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Center (SQCCCRC) is looking for a motivated and experienced Medical Laboratory Specialist to lead and manage the operations of its advanced diagnostic laboratory services. This senior role is essential in ensuring efficient workflows, continuous service delivery, and adherence to quality and safety standards across all clinical laboratory units.

The Centre is aspiring to be a high-tech center with innovative-patient and staff centered- technologies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong command of laboratory operations, emergency management, shift and resource planning.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory control, budgeting, and vendor coordination.
  • Sound knowledge of quality systems and accreditation standards (e.g., ISO 15189, CAP).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations across all laboratory sections: Biochemistry, Hematology, Molecular Pathology, Histopathology, Microbiology, Cytogenetics, and Blood Bank.
  • Approve and manage shift schedules to ensure fairness, compliance, and uninterrupted 24/7 service.
  • Coordinate staff rotation and task assignments to optimize productivity and workflow consistency.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual laboratory budget; coordinate with finance and procurement teams.
  • Supervise monthly inventory reviews and manage annual inventory planning, tenders, and evaluation of quotations.
  • Liaise with referral laboratories for outsourced testing and site visits; ensure CAP and ISO compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Manager to uphold and improve quality management systems and audit readiness.
  • Lead operational emergency responses, ensuring fast and effective decision-making.
  • Draft technical reports, justifications, and regulatory documentation as required.

Salary will be based upon experience and qualification, using Oman Medical Bylaw.
