Job description

Our client, a global leader in energy projects, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance) to join their dynamic team for a major LNG project, which is a part of their energy transition strategy.

This is a residential role in Muscat, Oman.

In this crucial role, you will oversee and manage all aspects of mechanical, static equipment, lifting equipment, and rotating equipment activities to ensure optimal plant performance, safety, and reliability. The job holder will be part of the Maintenance & Inspection team and report directly to the Maintenance and Inspection Manager.

You will technically lead the mechanical disciplines, ensuring that operational maintenance activities are accurate and safely executable during the production phase. You will ensure resources such as trained personnel, procedures, tools, and equipment are in place to minimize operational risks during startup.

Main responsibilities include:

  1. Project phase:
  2. Deliver all MIE (Maintenance and Inspection Engineering) tasks within your expertise.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with site personnel, technical teams, contractors, vendors, and engineering teams.
  4. Prepare and validate maintenance programs for rotating and static equipment.
  5. Develop maintenance procedures incorporating best practices.
  6. Draft technical Scopes of Work and participate in tenders for maintenance contracts, ensuring all SMCs are in place before start-up.

Within an integrated project team, you will:

  1. Lead the development of Mechanical MIE, contributing to maintenance and spares strategies.
  2. Participate in multidisciplinary activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, and best practices.
  3. Develop and implement MIE tools, processes, and systems.
  4. Assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.

Operation phase:

  1. Provide technical and administrative support to the site and control tower.
  2. Manage and monitor mechanical maintenance activities, planning for short, medium, and long-term needs.
  3. Ensure availability of spare parts, procedures, and manpower through CMIMS system management.
  4. Oversee maintenance contracts and monitor contractor performance.
  5. Manage actions related to Synergi / DGS situations.
  6. Develop long-term investment plans for obsolete equipment.
  7. Develop and implement maintenance strategies, methods, and procedures.
  8. Ensure maintenance scopes are integrated into planning and meet gate criteria for various planning horizons.

Desired background and experience:

  • Experience in operational maintenance within LNG or Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Minimum 10 years in mechanical roles, with at least 5 in field operations.
  • At least 3 years in supervisory roles.
  • Experience in resource control, contract management, and project experience is a plus.
