Job summary

Julphar is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to oversee all engineering functions within a pharma manufacturing environment in Oman. The role focuses on optimizing organization structure, recruiting top engineering talent, and aligning with HR for training to meet competency standards.

Responsibilities include managing utilities operations (water, HVAC, nitrogen, electricity), maintenance, spare parts, and successful delivery of CAPEX/OPEX within budget while ensuring cGMP compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science.
• 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical engineering.
• Expertise in cGMP and manufacturing utilities.
• Experience with SAP and EQMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering department activities and optimize organizational structure for efficiency.
• Oversee utilities operation (water, HVAC, compressed air, nitrogen, electricity) per cGMP.
• Lead maintenance of premises, equipment, and utilities (corrective and preventive).
• Procure, store, and manage spare parts inventory.
• Lead new projects from URS through FAT/SAT and commissioning.
• Apply cGMP across engineering activities, including QMS and audits.
• Support technical departments to achieve KPIs and drive engineering excellence.
• Manage CAPEX/OPEX within approved budget and timelines.
• Uphold Environmental, Health and Safety responsibilities.

Provide professional guidance, mentorship, and support across all engineering functions.

Qualification/Functional Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any related scientific discipline with appropriate amount of combined 15+ years of experience is required.
• 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industries in Engineering, Project, Facilities Maintenance, Utility, HVAC, Electrical and operation and maintenance management systems.
• Expertise in cGMP regulations and requirements for manufacturing-facility utilities that include understanding of cGMP compliance within control.
• Familiar with the Quality Compliance System.
• Ability to multi-task and manage complexity with multiple projects and contacts efficiently.
• Experience in managing OPEX & CAPEX budgets and ensuring projects stay within budget and timeline.
