Job summary

Dhofar Cement Company is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate conventional lathe machines and perform precision turning and drilling tasks on site. Qualifications

• Technical or vocational training in machining or a related field.
• Experience operating lathe machines is preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of measuring instruments and machining tools.
• Strong safety awareness.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional lathe machines.
• Read and understand engineering drawings and measurements.
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, chucks, and fixtures.
• Perform turning, facing, drilling, threading, boring, grooving, and related machining operations.
• Measure finished parts using vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Check dimensions and surface finish to ensure products meet specifications.
• Adjust machine settings and cutting parameters as required.
• Identify machining defects and make necessary corrections.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance of machines.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
• Maintain production records and report machine or quality issues to the supervisor.
