Job summary

The Majan Council for Foresight, Strategic Affairs, and Energy in Muscat seeks a Research Associate (Economic/Policy Analyst) to advance energy and climate economics, development policy, and related public policy work. The role includes opportunities to shape project streams and publish research, aligning with regional Gulf risks and green growth objectives.

Candidates with Master’s or PhD track are welcomed; exceptional Bachelor’s graduates may be considered.

Qualifications

Strong academic background in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field.
Solid grounding in development economics, energy and climate policy, or institutional policy-making.
Excellent writing skills and the ability to present complex information clearly.
Native Arabic speaker with excellent command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Conduct research and policy analysis in development planning, energy and climate economics, industrial policy and FDIs, labour market transformation, socioeconomic resilience and green growth, regional stability and geoeconomics.
Draft policy papers and reports; prepare applications for grants, tenders, and research calls; support public outreach, workshops and strategic dialogues.
Collaborate on research projects for public-sector clients in Oman and the GCC; contribute to new research areas; engage in interdisciplinary work across sectors and ministries.
Optionally pursue an aligned PhD track or develop an academic publishing agenda.
