Job summary

SGS in Oman is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily operations across Sample Preparation, Fire Assay and Wet Chemistry. You will coordinate lab personnel, manage workflows and provide technical guidance to ensure accurate results and timely delivery in line with SGS standards and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

This role requires strong practical knowledge of Wet Chemistry and the ability to guide a team while maintaining high safety, quality and productivity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a mineral, geochemistry or analytical laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience with Wet Chemistry including digestion, reagents and dilutions.
• Experience operating AAS, ICP, UV and XRF or equivalent instrumentation.
• Experience using LIMS for sample tracking and results management.
• Strong English communication; ability to supervise and coordinate laboratory personnel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across Sample Preparation, Fire Assay and Wet Chemistry/Instrumental sections.
• Allocate workload, personnel and resources to meet production targets and turnarounds.
• Provide hands-on technical support and guidance to chemists and technicians, with focus on Wet Chemistry.
• Oversee sample digestion, solution and reagent preparation, dilutions and related processes.
• Monitor workflow and escalate significant issues to senior staff.
• Support training, guidance and competency development of laboratory personnel.
• Ensuring analytical methods and procedures follow ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
• Maintain records, document control and quality systems in the lab.
